What you are really warming to is the fact that we have, at last, got options. Both Jones and John might be better going forward than defending but together they have pace. So, whilst we have been short of a LB for ages we could suddenly have two. Additionally, I think Novak's best performances are on the left and Donohue remains an option.

On the right, I think O'Neil is the best RB at the club but we have Talbot beginning to look fitter if not performing at his best. In front of them we have Ariyibi slowly learning defensive duties whilst frightening opposition defences with Gardner as cover.

Up front, it is hoped that Slew can put SEB under real pressure for a starting place and young Simons can be quite useful as a sub and certainly knows where the onion bag is.

Central defence remains a concern but Hird played very well yesterday and Anderson has settled in well whilst Raglan should be fit again soon but Evatt is struggling.

Additionally, certain players like Liddle and Novak can play in a number of roles giving us a more balanced squad than we have had all season. Danny, has achieved this within a couple of months of being appointed - just think what he might achieve if given the benefit of building the squad for next season. He will have had time to assess what we have and what he thinks we lack with time to wheel and deal.

I'm quietly confident.

John has currently signed for just a month. I do wonder if DA would sanction an extension once Jones is fit again, so making the chances of them both being available for selection rather remote.

I'd have no problem with John at LB with Jones in front of him.

Pace on both wings - potentially devastating.
Never underestimate the stupidity of people

If we could sort out the right side with bolly as a winger and get a quick Right Back we would frighten the bejesus out of most sides .

Talking to a Cardiff lorry driver last night at the printers - he says John is predominately a midfielder.
God I hate this league.

Barnsley fan at work said he played left back for them but he could see he should have been played as a winger.
