Higdon would have been ideal for Cook's formation

No idea if he'd have scored the goals Doyle did mind

I disagree- it was Doyle's intelligent movement and mobility which made him ideal as the focal point for Cook's team. Higdon seems to be a lump/target man and would have struggled to fit the formation as Richards often seemed to, I reckon.
These go to eleven.

If he'd signed he might have gone on to score 25 goals for us who knows

Big word "if".

"If" we had won more points under Saunders he might still be our manager and we might all be singing his praises.

Facts, though, suggest Higdon did nowt at the Lane and did nowt at Oldham over the period of time he would have been with us "if" we had succumbed to his demands and made him our highest earner by far.

Had we have done, though, we may never have sold Doyle for good money especially "if" we had played Higdon as the "one up top" instead.

Be nice if he finally signed for Cook at Portsmouth on top dollar and continued "not making" it!

One in two at Oldham wasn't it? You're judging an entire career on one bad move just to make a point?

Why weren't Oldham that impressed that they didn't want to sign him? Surely, they could have offered as much as a Conference side.

You're judging three years of complete failure and trying to pretend he might have done better elsewhere with no evidence that that would have been the case just to make a point.

I'm pleased we didn't sign him - do you wish we had have done?

Three years of failure?

With the bonus form of Doyle in hindsight no, but right now yes. You're too quick to write off a proven scorer at a good level.

Let's just say I am in the middle of the rush of league managers impatient to sign him up.

And, you know better.

So, I'll concede defeat.

I think we were all a bit surprised when we saw the size of higdon when he turned up here for the blades, all things considered and on the money he was wanting I think we dodged a bit of a bullet.

And Matt Tubbs at Eastleigh for the season

Cook never fancied him on his 5k/week wages, wanted rid of him pretty much from day one.

Wasn't he one of the top scorers in the Eredivisie in 2013-14?

Exactly, he doesn't really like being far from the south coast and they have got a few quid. He's in his thirties I think so he's probably happy to go where pays him
