You could easily mind your own business without upsetting your routine. If you want to meet Chris and have a good whinge, be my guest.

I'm beginning to see why you are so wary of meeting someone from this message board.

It's 'affects' and you can't make lager any worse, but good beer is spoilt if it's too warm.

The tone of your post goes along way to explaining why I don't go out of my way to meet Board members. You're obviously looking for a confrontation for some reason, whilst I've only answered you in a friendly spirit. That's sad even on a message board - why would I want to drink with that kind of person?

Firstly sincere apologies if I appeared confrontational, I was having difficulty in understanding why someone would claim to use a particular pub and then when asked about their usage throw another 2 or 3 names into the mix one of which is actually in Brampton(Ale House) and not around the corner, that being the "Beer Parlour" (I suppose spelling inadequacies are worse than being geographically unsound} The main reason for my aggressiveness, if you like, was your statement (excuse) regarding warm ale which could only have been some 18 months ago,. So why would you claim to use the Tup if a lapse in beer standard put you some18 months ago? Drinkers of real ale don't do that

So do you use the Tup or not and if so how often?

Post match (you are correct re-away fans before the game) there is a cracking atmosphere with a group of like minded people "chewing the fat" (of which only 3 post on here) generally until its to late to remember how many you've supped. You are cordially invited to join us a "Guest Speaker" (joke) would be rewarded with a pint or two of "Dark Rubby" or "Screech Owl " at just below room temperature which is excellent for loosening the vocal cords

Armand to Grimsby you say? Dunno about that but what on earth made you ask it on page 11 of this thread? Didn't you know that the thread title means you cant discuss that subject within the thread. Its only for fellow Spireites to have a pop at each other and keep going over the same old dross again and again and again and again.

Does the Derby Tup have a car park? If so, I'll meet you there at 2pm before the next home match. Providing the cellar is cold enough.
These go to eleven.

Don't think much to the Rutland personally these days. Maybe it's just the ill mannered & slovenly landlord that puts me off but I'd find little reason to go there above others within five minutes walk.

Chris? Really??

Always found him a nice guy and very amiable.

Big, big town fan in his day and once a regular on here and the old Spirezine too.

(Or is he not the landlord??)

It's Ant who used to run the twisted pinnacle (least I think that's his name)

Snap! Exactly the reason on I never go in anymore. I watch the landlord tear strips of an employee at the back of the bar once in front of customers. I think the lad had learning difficulties and couldn't particularly defend himself from the verbal assault.think it was over not clearing tables quickly enough. I vowed never to go back in and put my money in his till...and the pint I had was rank.

Not been in the Rutland for ages now....actually tried to go in just after xmas but as we walked in we were sort of blocked off and rather abruptly told they were shut. Wasnt that late either. Wasnt an issue...they just lost out on 8 folks buying drinks that another place were more than happy to take the money for.

Rutland used to be a favourite of ours as youths.

We still go in there but I wont drink the ale any more - too many bad quality experiences. Luckily they also have Sam Adams and Peroni on tap.

As for the landlord, yeah hes a bit surly, but Ive always found him to be ok personally.

He's called Ant. Massive NUFC fan who travels all over to watch them. He's a decent fella once you get to know him, I guess first impressions count though if your running a boozer!

No mate. Had the Twisted Pinnacle about 10 years ago though when the Birds were working the doors.

Chris does work there on the weekends. He was the DJ in the pinnacle too under Ant. Think he mentioned he's only ever been to the Proact once. Previous to that I don't think he missed a game for the best part of 10 years
