I am saying DW has had both players for the majority of his games playing together. Saunders may have had them together but very occasionally as I originally posted.

Dean Saunders had an entire summer to build a competitive squad, however within weeks of the season starting we witnessed severe shortcomings in several areas.

As for his signings, let's remember that O'Neil and Donahue, both now doing an impromptu job at full back, were recruited to be midfielders. As was Herd, the same Chris Herd who even those defending Saunders were forced to admit had failed to impress. Most others were far less sympathetic. E-B and Novak? The former had shown only glimpses of his pedigree whilst the latter had proven workmanlike at best. Meanwhile each and every one of these were dropped by the bloke who brought them to the Club.

And of course Martinez arrived because of his relationship with Ian Evatt.

Dean Saunders was a lousy appointment, those questioning it were absolutely right to do so. His signings, his tactics, his whole approach. It's difficult to believe anyone could make such a bewildering mess of a successful side in so few months, arguably our worst pound-for-pound boss ever.

Every manager suffers injuries and suspensions but the competent ones overcome them. Just as Paul Cook often did, just as Danny Wilson is currently doing.

I'm no apologist for Saunders, he in fact was the straw that broke the camels back in my case. Thats why I stopped attending games, if it had not been for mum asking to be taken to the Coventry game I fear I would have missed 3 very entertaining games. I don't need reminding by everyone of what happened and why I'm fully aware, I just think DW is fortunate to have the attacking options on his appointment.
