£250m or whatever it is should be more than enough to bulldoze any wall.

Scholesy saw a club who he played for being the best in Europe, most probably the world being held out by the lower team of Sheff Utd. Did you honestly expect him to be impartial?

Oh my word. I hope Van Gaal comes up with something better than a side playing two tiers lower nullifying them by setting up defensively.

The confidence that he has instilled into the squad in such a short space of time is beyond remarkable....& the effect he is having on certain players..more notably O'Shea & in particular...Ariyibi!!!

Will he be able bring out the talent that everyone expected & thought that he possessed!!? You never know, he could be our next million pound player!!!

All this praise..& he was absolute dog shizzle 4 games ago!!

If nando came back could DW make him better player ,seems rest of team ImprovedAnd I not a nando fan ,just a comment lol

Interesting that Jay O has got us out of the starting blocks in 2 games now. I don't expect him to score in every game but he has more licence to move and be creative now. As I mentioned in a previous thread that muppet Saunders was stifling his creativity. He was clearly playing to instructions under the previous regime.

Since Roberts left I feel he's a lot better player as a whole! His alround performance was of the highest order yesdi!

Chris 'Turnip' Turner receives a great deal of stick on here - and rightly so in many cases.

However if it's true that he championed DW as manager, as I'm led to believe, then he deserves a huge pat on the back.

As I sat watching the embarrassing shambles at London Road relegation seemed nailed-on, but six more wins and a handful of draws is looking very doable now.
Never underestimate the stupidity of people

These players need to be on the ball affecting the game as much as possible. Saunders' unbelief in keeping possession was clearly detrimental to our forward players, and thence the entire team. Look what happens when you implement a game-plan that involves getting the ball to the players that can create opportunities and allowing them to do so.

We're not gonna win every game like this, and there's plenty of work ahead, but it's nice that we've finally turned up this season! Chesterfield are back.

Agree.....Our ex managers belief and philosophy moving forward was not right for the players we have. It's pure basics for me.....you have to play a system that suits the players ....not to try and get them to play a way that's alien to their strengths......DW has just put the correct way of playing and system in place....together with the confidence that they are now showing. They were asked to do things they couldn't do under DS and when he tried to change it, it was too late and they couldn't react hence the rapid decline in results form and confidence.Moving forward I'm confident we will be ok and mid table beckons.... If we can keep this little run going and picking up points along the way who knows we're we may end up.

DW could be described as a victim of circumstance - with our defence decimated with injuries and square page in round holes he really has only one way to go.
Attacking game plan and hope we out score the oposition. This could be an exciting time.
God I hate this league.

I think he actually said something similar in an early interview after taking the job.

Mmm..... I would have called the "fit" defence a bit dodgy compared these current pegs. Is Evo the answer?

Still a bit frustrating for me. He played very well, and took his goal coolly, but he then fiddled with two further chances when Boli was beating men and crossing for fun. O'Shea is in the position of benefitting most from that sort of service, 'cos defenders are going to concentrate on SEB and Novak and he'll be the one with space, if any. He has to get a shot away before he's closed down, as he did so well against Shrewsbury.
Automatic choice at the moment, but you just feel there's a lot more he might do.

The defence benefitted by having two midfielders in front of them in control, just like under PC in the first half. Second half they got battered by high balls, which was predictable given a fairly small defence, but coped better than I would have expected. Need Evo back though.

The Morsy/Herd combo is not a new one and both played CM under the previous manager

Apart from it's not Hird, it's Herd.

Indeed they did, but it was ineffective until Herd started to get some form back after his long lay-off. It's been a long time, but there has been a steady improvement from a low start.
Yesterday was the first time I got the feeling we were getting anywhere near to the midfield control we've got used to over the last seasons from Morsy/Ryan. Ariyibi becoming an effective outlet in the Roberts mould helps a lot as well.
