I was talking to the wife about this earlier.
We've got a squad of players that were assembled by Paul Cook, a manager that whilst on the pitch it was a professional fast flowing passing game that had to be played with a smile on your face because you should feel privelidged to be a footballer. The whole clubs ethos was "we're here to enjoy every minute". Then in walks Dean Saunders. The yang to PC's ying.
The football ethos was "hoof the f***er"! Apparently the training was "look at what I can do". The interviews were

errrmmmm mindboggling.
And to top it all off he blames the players who were integral to a play off team last season because we were s**t this season!
They didn't want to play for him, surely going into work for them was suddenly a ball ache rather than an exciting prospect. Then the players get there wish. He's gone.
In walks Mark Smith. Right from the lower echelons of the under 21's. Surely the coaching staff of the first team must've thought "why"?
Would he have got a full co-operation from them? I think the team tried but I don't believe that he had a fully co-operative back room staff.
So in walks Mr Wilson. Although it's not the same passing style of Paul Cook it's still a style that encourages the players' personalities.
Ariyibi looks a different player straight away.
Oshea is finally getting some consistency.
The back four (albeit forced) are looking like they can cope, are allowing the midfield a chance to go forwards.
The interviews have an element fun about them, the training would surely have an element of fun about them without the manager showing up his players. The team are playing for him, it shows on the pitch.
Long may it continue.
