Oh and well shouted Chris Morgan he called the shots for 90 minutes

I thought having him on the side line was supposed intimidate the officials, although Boyeson is a hard nut to crack he needs to get his act together

I think some people on here must not go out if there is a wind. We've had dozens of better shouts for pens this season than that one. Body check lol

Just watched it again on SKY, Novak was offside and both Bolly bookings were dives. Pity because we played brilliant today, Bolly was motm just a shade from O' Niel who had by far his best game.

Really enjoyed todays game, a totally different game to the JPT game earlier this season. Under DS this team would have given in after Rochdale equalised but under Danny this team now seems to want to win games. Chesterfield are now proving to be enjoyable to watch home and away again, lets keep it up. Fans were good today, especially second half, the rendition of sailing sounded great from the other side of the ground where I was sat.
Where have we got this new player Gboly Ariyibi from!! Best performance in a town shirt from him today, the Rochdale fans near me thought he was excellent but kept shouting at their players to foul him every time he touched the ball in the second half because they knew he was dangerous. When was the last time an opposition manager took a player off very early because a town player was destroying them?

My thoughts on some of the debatable decisions.
Bollys first booking was wrong, all that happened was two players running in to each other, the ref couldn't get to him fast enough to give him a card(surprising considering what he ate in the lounge before kick off)
The second was the biggest surprise, when he blew his whistle I thought it was for a penalty, even the Rochdale fans near me were moaning that they had given a penalty away but soon changed there chants to cheat when they realised the ref was going to book him. Spoilt a perfect day for him. From where I ws sat there was clear contact.
Sam Hird was booked in the first half for making a great tackle. Many of the other bookings were bizarre.
There player that dived in the last minute after miskicking the ball and the ref gave a free kick was disgraceful.
I am really pleased with the 3 points today but we could and should have been out of sight by half time. 2 disallowed goals, the first probably, the second was a perfectly good goal. Jay O'Shea should have scored but took too long in front of goal. Sam Morsey was guilty of the same thing twice in the second half and should have had 2 goals.
Also what was Mani doing in the last minute, 2 players collided and it should have been a free kick to Chesterfield but the ref played advantage and didn't blow, Mani appeared to assume that the free kick was given and passed the ball towards a Rochdale player who turned and nearly got through.

Bring on Wigan

So why did it take so long to make the decision?

Looked at the Rochdale message board, they were saying Boyeson was applauded off the field and normally referees get booed off

Putting 2 and 2 together........

Did the ball hit Novak though? I've not seen it but it was suggested that it hit the defender.

I thought it hit the defender, but the highlights seem to show it hitting Novak, who was offside. Just bad luck.

Definitely seemed to hit the defender on the Sky highlights, missing Novak altogether. Presumably that is why they didn't complain much and assembled for the re-start.

I can't comment on O'Neill today as I've not been and I understand your point. I just heard him saying O'Neill was exceptional today. Let's hope he has found his feet because we have been crying out for a RB and he could be just the ticket.

O'Neill is beginning to look the part at full back but the whole of the back four looked solid. Raglan and Hird coped really well and Donohue is really growing into the role. He still makes some odd choices but I wouldn't drop him for Drew at the moment. Good to see Morgan working with them as a unit in the warm up.
Any scouts will have seen the best and worse of Morsy. Excellent at winning the ball and securing the midfield but hopeless in front of goal. Thought the partnership with Herd looked really solid. Assume Herd got a knock rather than a tactical substitution.
Ariybi absolutely unplayable today. Real shame he didn't get rewarded with either a goal or a real ovation for that performance. Hope he learns from the sending off. I don't think divers ever come out on top as they get recognised as such.
SEB and Novak put shifts in again and look quality. Novaks body on the line block in our box was really brave and just typified his commitment.
Cracking performance in a really exciting and enjoyable game. Everything there that was missing from the Saunders period.

It's what happens when the midfield gets a grip. First half Morsy and Herd ran the show, and had the perfect outlet in Gboli. If O'Shea had shot first time on a couple of occasions he'd have had a first half hat-trick. Granted his goal came from a dribble, but chances are that in the box he'll get crowded out if he hesitates and sure enough - - - . With any luck we'd have had three goals anyway.
Second half Keith Hill gave up and took the aerial route, which put us under a bit more pressure. Sensible with a couple of smallish CBs, but I thought Hird and Raglan coped really well with the barrage. I'd have felt calmer with Evo in there, and O'Neill gets beaten too often for pace for my liking, but it was a dogged display and got the result.
Presumably Herd took a knock which was why he was replaced by Banks, who scares me stiff in midfield in a scrap. I hope it's nothing serious, 'cos he's slowly improving every game. Long way to go to match Jimmy Ryan, but at last we're starting to command the midfield a bit better.
I'd like to see Drew and Jones back though. Just think of the attacking options then.

it seems a bit churlish to say so, but I'm not at all happy with their goals - or with Tommy's new habit of letting 30 yarders slip out of his hand, once again fortunately into the path of our very own Sam Hird.

well they went 343 and kept playing the diagonal long ball
It worked for the most part, as either Calvin Andrew or Vincente usually wins the header

by the way Calvin Andrew looks like a footballer under Keith Hill rather than the hopeless league 2 donkey we thought he was.

Broadly in agreement but Raglan always looks to have a mistake in him. Was at fault for their first goal. Lost Henderson when the ball was cleared. Good performance though. Loved the team togetherness and Novak's commitment summed up by his block in the 6 yard box.

Don't think it hit him looking at the highlights, but he's definitely offside under the new rules this season as he's interfering with play and looks to be blocking the keepers view also.

If they were dives having seen them i am not convinced but we can blame Chris Morgan for his input to the players and we did get two vs Shrewsbury.....

it was one of those where I am sure three TV pundits were would have four different views.
