It was 1-1 but I thought Howard had scored a decent goal that night. Probably wrong. The coach got lost on the way home and added over an hour to our journey , I had to be up at 5 for work so the memory of that night is a bit scrambled. The next day was loooong.

As a lad I remember Springfield Park with the grass bank behind the goal, there was a small alley at the side of the away end and as we all went towards the exits a shower of half bricks came over the wall - they were the days..... Warfey in his silver doc martins and Dema with his scarf round his wrist Bay City Rollers style.
God I hate this league.

Only ever went to Springfield park once , may have even been their last ever league game at that ground , the season they reached the play offs against man city(?). Was a weird ground tho.

The only bad thing about Rochdale is the lack of a pub, but their social club bar is great. If you don't act the idiot they are happy to let you in.

Their MP might even send you a text.

There used to a pub on the corner of the ground, on the right as you came out of the away seating, has that gone now?

Thanks for that. I love a trip on the train. Don't think I've done so for a Town game since Doncaster last season but with our self-imposed away ban now lifted it could be a good one.

I have seen Town at Wigan before but it was so long ago Jon Howard scored the winner. It was a night match and so I failed to see Wigan itself in all its glory.

I was there as well. Remember Breckinbauer having an absolute monster game for us...he was terrific and signed for them not long after iirc.

Tommy Hitz turned out for us that night also.

As for the ground, i drove there that night and can't recall any particular problems getting there and parking up in the retail park by that indoor football centre.

Yep was 1-1 and Howard scored a belting volley from just outside the area as I recall.

Remember the ground being a bit of a pig to get to in the car. Was probably pre sat nav etc.

I had chips and Chinese curry before the JPT game, it was the highlight of the night!

I think if someone had cracked me square in the face that night that would still have been the highlight of the night. Probably one of the worst games of football i've ever been too.

Never learn though, back I go again on Saturday for possibly the 7th or 8th time!
