A nice goal last night and some nice passing, I think one thing we're short of at the moment is a playmaker. Banks has good distribution, and although he's been a bit lightweight in the tackle (possibly due to his injury)we could really do with someone to dictate the play and provide SEB.

It was pretty clear earlier in the year that centre midfield didn't suit. Where could anyone see him fitting into the team? And would it need a change in formation?

I think it would mean changing from a 4-4-2/ 4-4-1-1 or playing him on the wing as I wouldn't chose Banks playing behind SEB ahead of Novak, Impact player IMO.

look at the challenge for an header on the edge of our box about 5 minutes or so before they scored ? he made no effort at all he as no defensive quality that said maybe he can find a role I just dont know at the moment where?

Height is only useful if you're prepared to jump and compete.

it looked to take a dodgy bounce (off the 6 yard box line) as it kicked up higher when it went over the keeper than at any time after it left his boot.

Don't think i've ever seen Ollie head a ball . It isn't his strong point but it would be nice if he would persist because of his height he might win a few. He does have an eye for goal and it is a shame he can't be utilised in our present set up.
If I were him I would train hard to add heading to my game to give me an edge, making it difficult to be left out of the first team. He also needs to man up a bit on tackles.

Rai got lucky with his too. Horrible touch and the keeper never came for it.

Banks neshed one on the edge of our box too. A shrinking header when he should have cleared it.

Neither Banks or Herd is the answer to our midfield

Maybe we clone a replacement from the DA of both of them, we might get a player who can pass and tackle. On the other hand we might produce one who can't do either

Perhaps it would just be easier to sign one

I saw it the other way...the heavy second touch actually drew the keeper into making a play for the ball, hitting the deck and actually allowing the finish to happen although his final touch was good to dink it over the keeper and score.

I highly doubt he meant to do it but either way the finish was class. He looked good when he came on, I was impressed.

The middle touch was heavy\poor but shouldnt take away from the very calm, classy final touch to score.

in your opinion of course. Personally I think they both have a lot to offer. Herd is the natural replacement for Morsy should he be sold in January as is expected, and I am hoping that we get him signed up on a 2 year deal asap. Banks may have his weaknesses (as many players have) but he ran the midfield when I saw him last Tuesday against Notts County. Ok it was only a reserve game but both he and Mani stood out and I wouldn't have been surprised on that performance to have seen both start last night. Banks' best position is in the hole behind a lone striker so if saunders ever decided to change formation then I can see a place for him and Herd in midfield. I can also see him lining up next to herd in central midlfield when morsy has gone. By saying that neither are the answer, you are saying that we have problems in midfield? what is wrong with you people. haven't we won 4 out of the last 5 matches? if we won every game most of you would still be moaning.

Maybe some constructive criticism would be more to your liking? In which case, pass better, stop ducking out of headers, use your build to your advantage and stop doing those stupid lunging tackles which get you nowhere near the ball.

Yeah true, but it was unintentional that's what I meant. Luckily it was perfectly weighted to confuse a non league goalkeeper and it meant he had only one choice - the dink - when he arrived at the ball.

That's what I meant to type; my fingers don't seem to be doing what my brain wants them to do today. I'm not usually bothered about him but he looked very composed and effective yesterday, seems to have shed a bit of the rawness to his game.
