Yeah. It's a one way rivalry as far as I'm concerned. And given they havnt threatened our superiority in decades there will be a full generation of town fans growing up wondering why a little hovel across the m1 parties like It's Christmas every time they get to face us, it's only gonna carry on becoming more irrelevant the longer and further they fall behind.

So who are our rivals then? As in our main local derby?

If we were facing them in the league they wouldn't be though, would they?

rest assured the history never goes away and looking at the L2 table this season maybe it wont be long before we are meeting again.

They are challenging for promotion into a league we have no chance of going up from.

How are we miles ahead of them?

Attendances. But that doesn't mean a deal. There'll be clubs relegated to this division for next season who average double what we do, just as we do v them.

They aren't a very good side and the bloke in charge is an idiot. They have some pace. I think they will finish 8/9th

It's Mansfield. Let's not **** about, the Sheff clubs don't see us as rivals. Mansfield care about it more than us, sure, but it's still our main derby.

Can't disagree. Mansfield will always be our fierce rivals! The only reason Sheffield clubs turn out so well here is due to location of how close it is.

It's difficult to maintain a rivalry with a club you hardly ever play. But rivalries can develop. We started getting one with Rotherham until they went up and I think Rotherham have been getting one with Wednesday and United. If local clubs are in the same division for a good number of years there could be a rivalry from familiarity which, as we all know, breeds contempt!

On the other hand I have often thought which clubs' fans are ( relatively speaking ) ...mates ?

For instance Cardiff hate Bristol City ...Bristol Rovers probably
hate Bristol City more

Does that maybe illicit an affiliation between Cardiff and Bristol Rovers fans
Or does everbody dislike everybody else ( to differing degrees )

WHU fans ( of late ) have had a rather unsettling but growing " friendship " with Man City fans .. Dates back to Citeh being relegated at The Boleyn and their fans/players getting a warm round of applause from the natives( however Patronising it seems ) ...Followed by Citeh's 2nd Premier league success in 2014 with Hammers fans AGAIN applauding ( albeit in totally different circumstances )at The Ettihad

Reading our Forums it quite clearly doesn't sit well with " all ours " by a long stretch

Do Tairn have any " friends " ?
Serious question

Exactly , due to location and the fact we probably all know a blade/owl they'll always be banter. They obviously have the big club arrogance so they'll obviously dig us out and we all like to beat each other but I highly doubt they think about us apart from when we play them. I'd say Rotherham are more bitter rivals than either Sheffield club and that only ever sparks to life when we are in the same division. It's Mansfield all day long for me. Bless em.

Burton are more fierce rivals than Mansfailed? Your having a laugh mate.

Blunts, they only really look across the other side of the steel city, and only see us as rivals as were "local".

Millers, same as. Local derby but not really rivals.

There was a poll done on this very subject a few seasons ago......Mansfaled winners by a country mile

From recollection, it used to be Leicester and Stockport....we are talking early to mid nineties, mind.
