Duckworth/Lewis is becoming a joke.

Though we eventually won the 20/20 World Cup some years ago I remember losing our first game against the West Indies despite scoring nearly two hundred, D/L handing our opponents a comfortable chase with nearly all wickets intact.

The second recent one day-er against New Zealand saw us forced to face a far less get-able revised total than during normal play.

And now, despite restricting the Kiwis to barely five and a half an over, England are pushed to score at nearly seven and a half per over on a difficult pitch.

I'm posting this long before any result but it's simply wrong, whatever the outcome.

Your right but there is no other mathematical way of doing it any better, just needs tweaking in some places to catch up with the game and wickets need to be taken into account.

First ashes squad :-

Cook Ali Anderson Ballance Bell Broad Buttler Finn Lyth Rashid Root Stokes Wood

Footitt misses out along with Plunkett from the "bonding trip" to Spain. Not really a surprise for Footitt to miss out as he probably needed a few injuries to get a go but shows he isnt far away. No surprise Rashid is in either with it likely to turn in Cardiff.

Think Wood is Footitts target Jon.

If Australia get a lot of runs and he does not take many wickets think Mark could oust him.

Dont see the big fuss about Wood myself, very much same as we have already.

Still lets see

I like Wood....a bit quicker than he looks and aggressive although this will be a step up from NZ as good as NZ are.

Surely if any of the bowlers aren't performing then Footitt will be in their mind. Especially as a lefty he offers something a bit different.

I like Wood, seems to be a proper grafter. However his run up bugs me... Starts of sprinting but then ends up just jogging in. What's that all about?

His run up is awful but it seems to work for him.....not sure whether sorting it out would be any good for him. They messed about with Andersons action initially and made him worse and he only got back to normal and has taken most of his 400 wickets with "broken" action.

Well another season just about done and its turned out not to bad.....both Saturday sides got promoted last weekend, the seconds without even playing whilst the firsts won at Sandiacre as Staveley got stuffed at Allestree. 1sts need 4pts from the final game on Saturday to win the league, 2nds need 12pts from their two games at the weekend.

Throw in the fact the Sunday 1sts currently sit second in Mansfield League Div 1 and will go up unless Teversall beat Hosiery Mills and it would be 3 promotions from 4 sides with the Sunday 2nds in the top half of their division as well.

A lot better than ourselves! In a season where we thought we might get promoted we have ended up fighting relegation having lost far too many close games. Had we lost last weekend we would of been down but turned Totley over and should now stay up.

I toured with Allestree this year so have been keeping an eye out for their results. They still think they have a shot at going up.

This season is the first year we have had a Sunday side so have started in Div 7... Safe to say we have not lost a game and are top.

Allestree are a dangerous side on their ground with the batsmen they have and how they go about it. Layton got about 1200 runs but only managed about 30 in total against us. Seems a long time since we lost the big early season game at staveley.

They have some handy players.

Tom Deane is off to A&B next year which will be a big loss for them.

I only played against them at their place and he didnt do that well in that game, at our place he got 7 but talking to folk they were more impressed with the other lad who opened with him.

He is only 17 so has plenty of time. Seems very highly rated by the Allestree players.

Apparently he has played a few games for A&B under 17's and their captain was told to do everything he could to sign him.

Its hard to form a proper opinion of anyone in a couple of games and you certainly cant argue with the number of wickets he's took.

Anyone want to try and explain the point of playing test cricket on a pitch like this one in Abu Dhabi....its a dull and completely pointless 5 days of cricket!

Lunch on day 4, no spinner has taken a wicket and the match tally is currently 923-11 and one of those wickets was a bowler bunted up the order to be nigh****chman! Folk are very quick to criticise when a pitch favours bowlers yet you will get folk who see a pitch like this and call it a road and a great pitch to play on. No its not...its pointless cricket!!

Utterly pointless. No wonder Test cricket is dying. Something has to be done to give bowlers a sporting chance on these sub-continental tracks.

It reminds me of the Trent Bridge wicket in last years test v India..that eventually cost them an Ashes test the next time the Aussies visit in 2019. Will teams stop going to play Pakistna in the Middle East , doubt it due to the money!

It would have done had the Pakistani's not been time wasting left right and centre.
