I couldn't agree more. The way not to demonstrate to the Board that we want Morsy to stay, and be the lynch-pin around which to build a very good team, is for supporters to shrug their shoulders, as most do on here, and to say he's off! The message to the Board should be 100% clear from Spireites Debate. It's simple DA, unlike Darikwa, who handed in a transfer request, this has not happened with SM, who, as I understand his position, has said to DS that he wants to stay, provided that the Club invests in the right areas. That, it seems to be doing, much to the disappointment of some posters, I suspect. If you practise what you preach DA, give him a significantly improved contract, if it's not already on the table, and let's move on.

I love how loads of people seem to think they know Sam Morsy's mind and all that we need to do is 'show some ambition' and he'll sign a new deal

he will not sign a new deal

he will be gone, in this window, in January or at the end of the season and good luck to him

now I do not presume to know what he is thinking but it seems obvious to me that we cannot offer him what he wants either financially or career wise, the alleged offer he has already turned down was Massive in our terms (huge signing on fee and good wages)

enjoy him whilst he is here

I'm with you on all the above however, from what I've read/heard re: Morsy its not just about the money, its about the ambition of the club to move forward, so based on the recent incomings Angel/Novak and now O'Neill. I'm really hoping Morsy can see the club are 'going for it' and will sign soon.

I also agree with you about 'some posters', its seems whenever their is some good news, they have to look for a negative ie "he's off". DA mentioned in his interview that DS had identified a player but we would likely lose him due to the money, DA said go ahead and match it. If that's not a good example of him wanting to move us forward, then I give up. The club are doing their part, then us supporters have to do our bit too!

Would be great if Morsy did sign a new contract but like you I think it's about more than money. He comes across as an intelligent guy so I suspect he has given real thought to what he does next. He has no need to rush into a new contract as there are benefits to him in not doing so. He will become a free agent with financial benefits to him if he were to move. The way DS is playing him would suggest he will be able to demonstrate other aspects of his game and in particular goals. This can only increase interest from a wider range of clubs so give him a greater choice should he decide to move. If MK look like they are able to establish themselves in the Championship then they might be a more attractive option come January. If we are challenging for promotion he may decide he should stay with us. We still get him for the season and he gets to have a better range of choices. Win Win really.

Well why do you think we've just signed a CM for a fee?

It could be and undisclosed fee akin to Coopers undisclosed fee, ie we signed him for nothing but with a decent sell on clause instead.

Was keen to see some footage of this O'Neil after finding out that he played against us for Scunthorpe when we lost 2-0 at Glanford Park in the league last season.

I went to the game and couldn't particularly remember this player. Turns out he actually got both assists in the game.....

Saying that, I went to the extent of watching the extended highlights again on Spireite Player and defensively, he seemed to be a bit of a passenger. Going forward, very calm, collected and clever.

Can't see him being the answer to problems in the full back positions, but a very different player to Morsy! Hope we've got this right....

It's a shame the last 3 signings came after we'd played a couple of games, would've been great to have them all for pre season.

It only needs 3 or 4 people to have actually talked to him, in the gym, or where ever to know. If he says the same thing to these people then it's clear what his mind is.

Just because he hasn't said it to you doesn't mean it's not been said.

Dean Saunders said "Morsy is like a fan, always asking who we are going to sign" - why do you think he might be asking this question? Perhaps it's because he want to know if the club are serious about a promotion push, and wether to stay for another year?
A new hope.

What do you expect him to say to fans?

Sorry lads, I'm not signing no matter what!

Naive

You say Morsy is not going to tell fans he's on his way - and yet in an earlier post you told us all that he was definitely on his way and we should get used to it. Does this mean Morsy will tell you but no one else; or that you aren't a fan? I think it is time you made your mind up as your posts are very contradictory!

An interesting summary. I am glad we have been following him for 2 years rather than just on Spireite Players out takes.
