That's interesting but I guess it would have been abolished sooner or later as culture shifted in general.

So Burnley liked to try and bully his young lads and **** his young female pupils? I'd guess it was unlikely- he was no oil painting.

I liked Mr Burnley and don't remember him as anything other than a decent bloke and teacher.

Allegedly. Nothing has ever been proven. Also what has that got to do with this thread???

I am still interested in your accusation that in Rotherham "80% of the people involved in the abuse were local white British people and not the reported Asian majority" in the personal section under THATCHER AND CHILD ABUSE COVER UP ?

Did you mean the victims or the perpetrators ?

Can anyone tell me what happened to Ferd Naylor?? I presume he must have passed away a long time ago as he was quite an old man back then(late 1970's) and never in the best of health.

I lived next door to Mal Hughes when I was a kid, and hung around with his son (a good lad)- he was a decent bloke out of school but I ran into him later as a pupil in my teens and he seemed to delight in thinking up original punishments, though corporal punishment was outlawed by then (probably to his frustration).
Des Pollard was completely spineless and had no control over anyone. Trev Grimshaw didn't keep much control either but was a good chap and a laugh.
The one I want to meet again is (Tony?) Burnley, a sadist who got off on bullying kids.

I had a couple of years of Chesterfield Boys before the changes to all the schools in the area and it became Brookfield. Certainly remember Pollard and Grimshaw, neither of whom were capable of controlling classes. There was the old English teacher who was more concerned about his classic bus that he did up, tinkered with and took to shows and there was a maths teacher as well who you could get away with murder with....we spent a month of classes one year playing cards and telling him we were studying probability!!

I think des taught both subjects to be honest so it may be the same bloke, never had the priviledge myself, too thick at maths and RE has just been kicked out of my brain to make way for something useful.

Des Pollard once tried to break up a vicious one on one fist fight on the school field at Newbold and ended up being pelted with snow balls until he went away.

I think at that time Des Pollard was teaching RE- sounds like Charles Boss might have been the maths teacher (Chazzy B). Middle-aged, grey, always seemed a bit depressed (unsurprisingly), had zero control and (in keeping with the above) used to stand unsuccessfully as a Lib Dem in local elections.
These go to eleven.

Thats them...Boss was the maths teacher i meant and Pollard was RE. A few had great fun when they found out Pollards password for the computer system was his car registration plate!!

Des Pollard was from Beverley ....Lovely bloke just couldn't control a class

He was umpiring a game of Cricket once . I edged one , wicket keeper caught it I stood my ground

The opposing captain at first slip informed me "Oi , its customary to walk " ...Des asked me ..."Er Bond ...Do you hit it ? "

" Me sir , no Sir ?" ... Not out !

Still regret my dishonesty just the 38 years on
THEY FLY SO HIGH , NEARLY REACH THE SKY , AND LIKE MY DREAMS THEY FADE AND DIE

I remember Jock, Bruiser, Rat, Smug, Hank, Fred and a few others - but it's really a long time ago.

The idea that sadistic teachers could openly tωat kids and get away with it is horrifying.

Mr Beckett (Hollingwood Junior school Headmaster) used to grab you by the shoulders and physically/violently shake you until you were seeing stars!

Barry Skinner must have liked it though as he was a regular "shakee"
