Another good shout pre match is the Bermondsey Beer Mile. If you like craft beer all of the breweries such as Kernal open their doors from 11 to 4 on Saturday and they're right by the Den. Not sure if this is the case when Millwall are at home but worth a look into.

According to the records we played Millwall 3 times in the late nineties but I'm buggered if I can remember which one I went to. I remember it was one of the first times I'd ever been to London though.

The supporters coach was locked into the away end and I remember a run down pub called the Sir Henry Cooper.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

One of Millwalls main pubs used to be down a side road just down from the Barrow Boy and Banker, the King something or other if I recall.
If you strut about in large groups drawing attention to yourselves, you may have a problem, like anywhere in the country really.
If you enjoy the local hostelries like the masses of tourists all over London, no problem at all.

You're probably thinking of The Old Kings Head.
I worked in Southwark for over 20 years with a couple of sweaty ar sed printers who were Millwall season ticket holders, and I went with them a couple of times when Town visited. Drank in 'Millwall' boozers and had a rite good laugh, no problems at all.

They deserve a beating for being so geographically incorrect.

It was The Old Kings Head. Down a bit of a side street.
My memory can be a bit vague but I recall it being close to London Bridge, near where the Shard is.
I had enjoyed a few pints but I also had a decent time, no issues. Plenty of cockney 'boys' but no aggro at all.
I always think the problem with Millwall is that every club who think they've got some sort of point to prove go down in numbers, puff chests out try and take liberties. I can't imagine anyone accepting that. As ridiculous as most of us think that is, it would happen at almost every ground up and down the country.

That changed from Henry Cooper in late '80's

The fact this involves taking a part part way to the game interests me greatly.

Is that a cockney version of a "tut tuk"?

I think he means in general, ie most games will have one or two idiots looking for bother, Millwall with just have extra idiots per say, not especially for this game. I've been twice to the New Den, once by coach locked behind the away end, and once by car parked half a mile away and had no bother at all either time.

Went with me dad to one of the 90s games, can't remember the score though! My dad had a fancy car at the time and was adamant it would be ok. Parked near the ground no problem and kept quiet to and from the ground. On returning to the car both the car in front and the one behind had their windows bricked, and not a scratch on my dads!
So make sure you go in a flash car and you'll be fine!

Won't be far off with that, although presumably 501 if its forecast to be hot that day??

National express at 7.15 am out of town for me, 2h 50mins apparently, in to Victoria and a steady few before the game (half marathon in 3 weeks so ought to really lay off the ale totally!).
