Must confess prior to yesterday's 2nd half wasn't particularly impressed with him, although in fairness (perhaps unfairly) , opinion was based solely on a handful of cameo appearances last season.

However yesterday, all the "young bucks" did really well but I was really impressed with the strength, composure and passing of this young man. Thought he did the simple things really well and worked as a great foil for Sammy M.

Have we unearthed another future gem? I certainly hope so, although with all our young "fringe" players, consistency is the key.

Also pleased for Armand, even though I admit to being one of his biggest critics. I would be absolutely delighted if after 10-12 matches I am eating a massive slice of humble pie. Maybe play the ball more to his feet instead of trying to turn him into the proverbial target man? Nice problem for Deano to address.

One swallow definitely doesn't make a summer, but everyone surely feeling a lot more positive after yesterday.

A lot of people commented that he looked good against Matlock and he still looked good yesterday against much better team

I must admit I'm amazed because he hardly featured last season and his loan spells didn't appear to have worked at Sheffield FC and Stalybridge

I can remember Tendayi's early appearances and I never thought he'd make it. I guess it takes time, effort and hard work and a lot of patience. If the young lads we have were 16 year old protégés , they'd probably be in or around Premier League teams

:rolleyes:That showing did him the world of good and should put him well up the pecking order.

Has Dean Saunders got something out of Armand that Paul Cook didn't so lets hope for happy days.

Prophered that same comment.Hoped it would work on Gardner and Banks but on the evidence of yesterday they're still "work in progress".

Paul Cook had such a brilliant midfield that he didn't need to worry too much about the others. That's not to decry his professional attitude, but it's human nature to concentrate on your strengths, even if it's not usually the best way forward. It might be the case that Armand didn't get the serious coaching he so obviously needs, and a new approach will pay dividends. I certainly hope so, 'cos if Armand can be turned into a decent footballer the Clucas fee will look like peanuts.

One or two folk who know a few people at the club have suggested Banks has/had an attitude problem. I can't imagine Dean or Mal putting up with any of that nonsense. So, in a way, it may well be a good thing for banks to work under a new manager.



After listening to DS he has a way of playing, and if the players don't want to carry out instructions as directed by the manager then they won't have a career for long at CFC.

This could actually work in Banks favour, and help him become the player we all wanted him to be after his first season with us in L2

Lets face it Paul Cook loved midfielders, Deano might be the best thing that happens for Armand and our forwards, Carey may even have some better influence on the defence for the good, ditto Crossley with the Goalies.

He was the one I was most impressed with. He looked awful last season (though I do admit he didn't get much chance to impress). He looked so powerful and his passing was really good for a bloke of his size. Not only did he do his bit with Morsy he was constantly involved with Tendayi and co on the offencive. Given a choice of him or Banks alongside Morsy (and I like Banks, though not in centre midfield) I'd choose him every time.

Watching him I sometimes wonder if he knows too.

He doesn't imo. The free role is the only one he looks comfortable in. It's a shame as he can play a killer ball having good vision and can score goals, but he needs to impose himself more on games than he does. There is still time yet but it's quickly diminishing for him.

As for Gardner I only occasionally see flashes of brilliance (and they are good tbf), but the rest of the time he may as well not be in the squad (far worse than what Banks is to the side imo). When we had Johnson on loan and he came on from a brief ten minute spell alongside him I thought we'd really hit onto something special, though we never got to see this again as PC messed Johnson about as he didn't get his way in wanting to sign him. I personally feel that was the beginning of the end in the relationship between the board and Cook. Cook was right, he would have been another one that could have earned us a hefty profit if we'd have speculated, the trouble was at that stage we'd only sold one of our assets and we were losing money at a frightening rate that the nerve of the board (or DA in truth) wasn’t having anymore. Shame as there was another million pound player in the making.

Must say I've been impressed with the improvements shown by Nanndo,Harrison but in particular Manni and Wigun (they've gone from little boys lost to looking like they could play an important role in the Team.The latter pair look a lot sharper and Wigun stood out as sweeper at Buxton.
