Do you think Allen, Turner & Carson etc feel 'sorry' for Cook?

Their take will be somewhat different I suggest and diry linen or not it may be in their interests to get it clear what happened.

Anger directed within their club is no good without reason.

Cook has gone, live with it, the football has been entertaining and we now enter a new phase with what is promising to be an unpopular choice of manager but who knows, he might just click here, out of the 92 clubs most appointments are unsuccessful.

In respect to Cook's leaving I look back with hindsight, a marvellous ability I learnt from the ex-missus, and when put into perspective you get the impression that Cook had decided some time ago he was going whatever. There were the little insinuations that I'm trying lads but my hands are tied. Cook has played his hand well as the hale and well met fellow with his apparent out-pouring of grief in the pubs to the fans. Listen to the latest podcast, he told Phil Tooley he would go when the opportunity came to join a club that was perceived to be two levels below where they should be.

I dont blame the guy for taking what he believes to be a better job with better pay, the majority of us would do this, what I do dislike is the way he seems to have manufactured it and whatever you think about DA / CT I think they have been treated appallingly by an employee who, in my opinion, they have supported to the best of their abilities. I leave the debate on their abilities for another day just remember we are a relatively small club in the scheme of things and not to fill the ground on Thursday night for one of our biggest game in years was disappointing.

Apologies, but I have to laugh!

It's Cook's personality. I've seen him many a time share a joke with the oppositions Manager when we've been losing at the Proact and vice versa, is it now suddenly an issue?

After the initial resentment for Cookie leaving I feel so sorry for him being backed into a corner. All that hard work. He loved our club, players and fans. All he wanted to do was take us further, progress and become more successful. But that's been taken from him, his motivation and passion for the club completely sapped out of him

Fortunately you've had a lucky escape Paul Cook and you deserve better than how you've been treated. I wish you all the best and don't blame you one bit for going to Pompey

Unfortunately as fans we are stuck with these selfish people running or should I say ruining our club. Never felt so down as a Town fan. So much potential and now I feel it's a downwards spiral. No chance do we have the board or CEO to overlook the Championship football drive.

Dreams over folks

I don't feel sorry for him one bit. When are fans going to open their eyes and realise that this has all been about his own financial gain, nothing to do with wanting to take the club forward because it's a job when all said and done and he's sought to maximise what he can be paid for doing his job.
I've heard he took 10% of the fee from the Doyle deal so again, i'm sure he wasn't heartbroken about that move, and also that he instigated the Pompey interest from the start because he needed the hefty sign on fee for his own personal finances. Why do you think Pompey didn't go away after we refused permission to talk too him, simple fact is that he had given them messages that he wants to join and discuss personal terms.
For the time being, Cook won't get or want a higher level managerial job because his behaviour away from the field lacks professionalism at times and all the stories we hear of him with drink etc are true so it wouldn't fit the image of a Championship Manager with increased media spotlight etc would it.

I love the man to pieces for he has done for our football club and the style of play we have all enjoyed over the last 30 months but some fans need to wake up and realise that alot has gone on behind the scenes and he's not the punished saint some people make him out to be

My opinion for what its worth (Tin hat on)

Paul Cook is a decent bloke, a passionate manager with a ethos of playing attractive football and demanding hard work from his players. Between him and his management team he has assembled one of the best Town sides I've ever seen. But..in my opinion he is not that good a coach/manager. There's no doubt he is a good man manager and he's good at getting the best out of certain players but how good of a tactician is he? I feel this side of his game is severely lacking. In his whole tenure as manager we have played one way (which has served us pretty well) however we have continued to struggle against opposition who don't allow us to play. We have been mostly fine when teams want to play football but has there ever been a plan B that has worked? NO. When he has changed formations has it ever really worked? NO. During games if our apparently attacking football isn't working (Preston, Bristol City etc) what has been done to change things? NOTHING. We have carried on working hard, over indulging and passing from side to side until the final whistle. To me that's PC being stubborn and tactically inept. There's no doubt he likes to play attractive football but attacking?? Not for me.. People can say its because we don't have a striker. Rubbish! Clucas is more than capable as Gardner would be if given a chance. Harrison hasn't had a look in despite us being toothless and Armand.. well hes an option. If you're playing 1 up front then he needs to actually play the position rather than be instructed to move around every 5 minutes.

PC deserves the praise he has received for the last 3 and a half years BUT he had his failings. Lets not forget that.

For me its the players that deserve all the credit in the world for this season. They have been immense and carried out our only plan to perfection.

Cos he realised he had nothing to come with this unambitious lot - sold top scorer and given £10.000 for his replacement

He spent 10 but was he given10 Ken? Most of the managers in football have taken their teams as far as they can within their budgets. If you follow cooks rationale most of them would walk out.
Let's be honest here one of cooks greatest strengths was his communication skills and PR. He knew what to say and when to say it and tgat continued until the bitter end

He has lost credibility here imo but he'll do the same spiel wherever he goes, saying what fans want to hear. Glib.
