Well I was hoping my information was wrong, that it was all some elaborate wind-up, but the same source has just confirmed deal done with Saunders.

I just don't get it, I really, really don't.

Dunno who's behind this, yet I'm told even local journalists are left bewildered. Though I'm sure subsequent spin will have the ex Donny, Wolves and Crawley relagatee looking like some sort of managerial messiah.

Ah well, at least this forum will provide more entertainment for Ashley Carson.
Never underestimate the stupidity of people

What other businesses have the luxury of being able to test the reaction of their 'customers' like football clubs do?

I'm not claiming that Bob's Board is the be all and end all of Spireite opinion but I would hazard a guess that the reaction to the Saunders news is fairly representative of overall opinion.

It's either brave or stupid - only time will tell.

When CFC went down in 2000 was it Nicky Law's fault? Is Chris Ramsey to blame for QPR's relegation? Obviously not, so why blame Dean Saunders for Crawley going down? They were odds on for relegation when he took over, and it was the same at Wolves, where he inherited a squad which was stinking out with overpaid non-performers. Meanwhile he left a promotion-winning side for the new Doncaster boss to take over.

Give the guy a fair chance, eh?

Agreed, Mr Turner was keen to tell the world how clever he was to get a buy out clause in Cook's contract, now explain how it's worked out in practice

I wouldn't trust CT as far as I can throw him

Bobs board certainly isn't the representation of the masses, I have spoken to several Spireites about this. They are all of the same opinion, not my choice but we give him time and back him %100. What he did at other clubs has no bearing whatsoever, new start new players the same goes for any manager. Me personally, I like Dean Saunders always have, when it comes to managerial appointments DA has got it right with us so far.

Of course what he did at previous clubs has a bearing. That's how managers are defined. He's never played good football at any of his previous clubs as far as I can tell. Why would he start now? Personally I go to watch good football like the stuff we played it his season, last season and in League 2 under Sheridan. If he does that then fair enough, I just can't see it. Still, I have a history of overreacting to things like this and everything turning out ok so maybe that'll happen.

Not here on a wind up, was just here to see who was rumoured to be up for the job.

But if true, Saunders is a massive backwards step.

He does not play entertaining football. He was very lucky to keep his job at Wrexham as he was constantly under pressure from their fans for a good couple of seasons before they started picking up results, however they did it the exact same way we did when in the Conference, physical unentertaining football, but with the odd player who knew where the back of the net was such as Mangan. His style of football was even more baffling when you consider the levels that some of the better players in his team went on to play for...players like Knight-Percival, Obeng, Fowler etc.

But it says a lot about his style when one of the first signings he brought in at Crawley was Mathias Pogba (brother of the Juventus' Paul) who is a big target man who he used in the Conference. Everything went up to him and they tried to play off of him with attacking midfielders or smaller, more agile strikers around him.

That's probably why (going on previous posts) he may have said he rates Gnanduillet.

Some on here are claiming relegation, or how long to it, none renewal of season tickets, never felt so low etc etc, complete overreaction by many. Me I just go with the flow I have no choice. I will always renew my season ticket, I look forward to a new season with new players and a manager who I actually like.

How anyone can be happy about the prospect of the team being dismantled puzzles me

Nobody is happy but Cooky has gone, end of. The club tried their best but it didn't match Portsmouth. The Next Manager will want his own players and staff.

Nobody is dismantling the squad, Ryan refused to sign before Cooky left (Money differences) anyone else being touted is simply down to Media speculation and our own success. Morsy, TD, Roberts, Clucas are all under contract so there isn't much more the club can do specially if the player wants to better themselves.
