If Jimmy had been sent off in that incident, the ref would have some serious questions to answer. You're probably right but you still can't go around elbowing folks in the throat and expect to get away with it too often. Jimmy was lucky that the ref was behind the back of the Preston player or he'd have been cooked.

And you are correct, he was a very lucky boy, but the fact remains IF the ref had a grip on the game it would never have happened. It only took me a few minutes of watching his total lack of authority for me to keep saying he's going to lose us this one as he's far too soft and showing no authority what-so-ever, which was to be honest was playing straight into their hands.
Yeah, okay we can't blame the ref for the defeat, but he certainly didn't do us any favours, though he did them as they were after the spoiling, break up our momentum men behind the ball display and without clamping down on the niggly stuff he gave them an advantage.

Maybe he was weak. He did do us favours - he let us finish with 11 on the pitch - it should have been 9!

You've got to give credit where it's due to the refs appointment dept. when it comes down to "big" games for us they are very consistent and appear to appoint to stuff us

If he had got hold of the game, the incidents you refer to wouldn't have happened. Players get frustrated with ineptitude, especially when the opposition are taking advantage of it

Agreed, I was gobsmacked when I witnessed how weak he was. What are they thinking?? Big games require refs that can handle them and he clearly couldn't.

Agreed, though these points have been gone over why this shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Perhaps if he'd gone back and cautioned them for simulating "death" he may have gained some respect and the game would have been more of a football match than some theatrical production

Watching on Sky last night, couldn't attend due to absence of babysitters but thought the game was sort of our season in a nutshell - some great football but without a cutting edge at times, prone to at least one defensive howler.

Very proud of how we played and just hope we can do the same on Sunday - A win isn't beyond us and so wouldn't be suprised to see extra time (am I correct in thinking no away goals rule?)

Even though its been a great season for decades that cutting edge has been missing in home games against the top four clubs with or without Eoin Doyle and I for one cant understand why.Scored 42 goals and not one against top four.

Yes away totally different,if you look at the last head to head we lost the last five at home to Preston and not scored a goal so I was expecting us to lose but and we usally come good second half and its now half time so im expecting us to come out fighting,the pressure is now on Preston.First goal is crucial the longer we hold them at nil nil they will defend in depth.

Dan Jones gave away possession playing a long ball out of defense that went straight to a Preston player. It was a poor ball that immediately had me out of my seat. A more considered pass to a Town player was always the option because that is how we play; keeping possession and build up.

From there they went on to score. I thought Hird should have done better. Having watched the replay it seemed Evatt and Darikwa went AWOL. As you say a defensive nightmare.
