lets look at the positives.

The team played some outstanding, fully committed football. It was a thoroughly entertaining match and any neutral watching that couldn't have helped but be impressed by CFC. The players themselves were fantastic. Cooks interview was as is the norm, a good one. The support from the crowd was again magnificent.

Everyone from the tea lad, the manager and his staff, the players, and the fans - well done.

A new hope.

There's a reason they are one of the best defences in the league, defended with hearts on their sleeve. Takes nothing away from us though, we've pushed them all the way, but they took their chance and we didn't.

We outplayed them for most of the match but the first ten minutes was awful. We started slowly and were ponderous. I was screaming at the telly for some tempo. Who was marking Beckford? He couldn't believe his luck.

But hey, it's not all over by a long chalk. We play very well away from home and both ties are still up for grabs. Bring on Sunday.

ref has been very lenient. Both Roberts and Ryan could easily have been sent off

Ref was very weak and from where I was sitting Ryan was very lucky not to get a red for raising his hands against an opponent

It was a nervous start as they pressed us high up the pitch but we finally got into our stride and completely outfought them, playing some decent stuff along the way. But 20 shots and only 4 on target tells its own story, we dont have a striker and it showed. Roberts was tremendous, the best player on the park by miles. 65% possession according to bbc.
As for Gardner and O(ver) Shea, oh dear

Tendayi caught badly out of position, great all round performance by the team and fans, we're not out of it yet

I know it's been done to death, but I wish we'd have hung on for another few months :angry
No other playoff chasers would have cashed in for that amount on a 20+ goal scorer in January. Everyone raves on about Gardner, but he's only just overtaken his league one tally and still is nowhere near Doylers tally (and he's had to start adding to his at Championship level!)
Mind blowing how little guts the board showed with that one.

Tendayi would have easily won motm for me if it wasn't for that one crucial mistake. Having said that I need to see it again as something went drastically wrong as it seemed to be that soft!

It looked to me as evatt was in no mans land after a forward pass was intercepted, hird went to cover garner (evatts man) I think it was which left no one on beckford. Tendai was caught out as he was no where near to cover hird. Hird should have got goal side of garner instead of trying to floor him.

In all - a defensive nightmare.
Here we go again!

Referee was first class kept the game flowing, very few yellow cards when there could easily have been a couple of reds when it started to get heated and could of killed the tie if Jimmy had got sent off.

Sorry I have to disagree. I never slam the refs as they have a difficult job to do, but that was one hell of a weak display. The occasion demanded one and it didn't get it. He NEVER looked in control from minute one to the 95th! Yes, we maybe thankful for that with a couple of things we got away with, but I don't think it would have come to this if he'd got a grip of the game and should everyone he was in control. That display was embarrassing, it was like watching a real wuss referee a mans game.

Was that the reason for the yellow? Ref let far too much go imo and when you allow a team like Preston licence to feign injury and break up the game they will grab it with both hands. Which they did.

Everytime we were getting up a head of steam a Preston player would go to ground holding his face for two or three minutes stopping our flow

This you must stop the match for a head injury plays into the hands of the cynical teams

The buck stops squarely with Jones for the goal, it was a she ite pass!!! Never looked like reaching a blue shirt.

First class ! We're you watching same game? He lost control of it from the point of Preston scoring letting them blatantly time waste and constant fouling went unpunished, the town players just lost their rag because he was so shi*e.

First class, yeh first class kn*b.

Disagree entirely. Weak, ponderous. Let lots go. Preston's time wasting was ridiculous. Looked out of his depth to me.

100% correct, weak ref and he NEVER had a grip on the game with no authority what-so-ever and THEY knew it! We needed a strong ref to cut out all their horrid nullifying tactics and because we didn't have one it led to all the rest happening. Yes, we were lucky to have eleven men on the field at the end, but it would never have gotten that far if the ref had any authority on the game. Soft as **** he was and I never have a pop at refs (until tonight)
