There are fans at their end who say they havent yet found the money to pay off management they have sacked. Some of the rumours going around conflict so wildly it's best to just wait and see.

100% agree with you and we certainly shouldn't let this put a dampner on the achievement of finishing 6th

whatever will be will be

Watching the clip, it wasn't Biggs that instigated that particular line of discussion to be fair. He did seem a little flustered for a second as if he was trying to remember what the official line is.

On Cook, there were some stories over the weekend on Twitter about his time at Sligo, money from Coleman deal and the nature of his exit. Not sure if they're repeatable here

Biggs would have planted that question with his guest so he could respond to it

Quite he could hardly contain his I can confirm that response, with an update to the compensation package (£200k)

Mark Halsey had clearly just 'heard' it from Alan Biggs. I doubt it was high on his agenda to learn about.

Along with most, I'm very reluctant to believe and accept that all this might somehow be true, ESPECIALLY AT THIS CRUCIAL TIME !!! ..... But the only thing that I am absolutely CONVINCED about is that PC would surely be making the worst mistake of his career if he went to Portsmouth.Quite apart from the appalling hypocrisy, in terms of his rhetoric about 'Loyalty' etc, etc, it's just unbelievable that he might even consider such a retrograde move and just at a time when his stock is probably at its pinnacle so far in his managerial career. For heavens sake, he is being coveted by MUCH BIGGER CLUBS right now and for good reason. So, surely the guy must realise this ! .... OR DOES HE ??? Nah, surely he does !..... I can only wonder now, if something really shattering, in terms of next seasons player budget etc has been revealed to him by the powers that be and that it must have completely done his head in .... to such an extent that he's had a real bellyfull of it and just wants out !??It's still 'Crystal Ball' time, really .... Well, either that or something to do with a load of other spherical objects, hopefully.

My take and it's only speculation on my part is that this less to do with budgets and more DA's determination to get as much of his money back as possible by selling Morsy, Clucas et al in the summer rather than re-investing the proceeds

Whether it's down to player budget or player sales, or even a combination, and when added to the reported lack of funds to keep JR, there is every chance that information has come to light in the last few weeks that has rocked PC to the core.

The post by PT may be linked and it may be that PC's reaction to certain information was already known when that post was made.

I've stated on here before the difficulties we will have sustaining a Championship level club. Most rivals in that division are either propped up by huge parachute payments, or backed by owners with serious millions that they are prepared to lose in the quest for PL status. And add to that most stadiums are 2-3 times the size of ours, with average gates a most clubs well above our capacity.

Perhaps it's now a case of either:

a) gain promotion and use most of the windfall to repay the loans

b) Lose play-offs and cash in assets and reduce budget to repay the loans.

Certainly trying to compete against the wealthier Championship clubs would be a huge risk.

Like others on here, the many, many years of football endured in the bottom 2 tiers mean I'd be happy just to see us play one game in the Championship. If that was with no squad investment and all the money to pay debts, that would work for me.

Dave Allen hadn’t anticipated getting so heavily involved in the club at the point where he was asked by Barry Hubbard. From what I’ve been told, his close family would prefer him to be out of the club but there is no-one that is prepared to buy him out. He has gone on record as saying he wants to reduce the debt (money owed to him) and the best way of doing that is by selling our better players.

He has delivered on the pitch by selecting Managers who play aesthetically pleasing football and our attendances are good. Our success on the pitch should be resulting in us turning a profit but the fact we haven’t been is a major worry.

As for Paul Cook I have heard plenty of rumours and some of them are cause for concern. Personally, I really like the guy and I hope that compromises can be reached between him and the powers that be. Unfortunately, I think the ‘done deal’ is correct and there will be a change of manager come the start of next season. If this is the case I wish him well as he has been brilliant for us.

In terms of the next management team, I would like to see Leam Richardson and Ritchie Humphries get the gig as this would be a continuity of what we’ve had but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Keith Hill turn up as he is in the DA mould of what he subscribes to as a football manager, playing decent football on a shoestring budget and selling players for decent profits.

Interesting times – roll on Thursday!!

For a few weeks now, I've had a sickly feeling in the bottom of my stomach that's got worse and worse concerning this situation.

I hope we smash Preston for six & Paul Cook leads us out at Wembley.

I think it's fair to say Phil Tooley has far more knowledge of CFC than almost everybody on this messageboard.

Once the outcome of this season is known, I hope Phil comes back with a full fat posting, as opposed to the diet version.

With more rumours to come no doubt. Keith Hill's name was mentioned by Turner during a press interview, which may or may not be significant.

Do you think? I thought Biggs looked a bit taken aback, like it wasn't supposed to be discussed on camera.

I'm guessing it's not live though so suppose it could've been edited out if it was controversial.

I dunno, it's just all so blummin frustrating but I do suspect there's some spin-doctoring going on. Biggs ultimately is just doing his job, but info is clearly being fed from somewhere.

Its either
A) a classic spin doctors move, we have no good news so leak information, false and true, make the position unclear, no one knows what's really going on.
B) the steady leak of information is designed to gently deflate us to mitigate the individual backlash
Or
C) we're just rubbish at keeping our affairs confidential
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

Biggs is close to DA so there will be foundation to what he says.

So, that seems to be that then, the way i read it.

What a thoroughly depressing way to enter into the most important period in the clubs recent history. Thanks Paul, Thanks Chris, Thanks Portsmouth, Thanks Dave and the rest of the board. Only we could manage to allow a rip roaring success of a manager who's under contract, leave to a team one possibly two divisions below. Embarrassing isn't the word.

Of course, if it's now known at the club that PC is off shortly, what are we doing about hiring a new manager? Or does the CEO and the rest of the board need to see the play offs and their summer holidays out of the way before starting to look in to that? Perhaps we need to put the word out first via some local media guy that we might be in the market...

It stinks, mate.

It's been handled extremely unprofessionally & it's caused nothing but total disruption to our play off / promotion push.

How many Championship clubs have not been bought by foreigners itching to get promotion to the Promised Land? One season at Championship level and if we avoid the drop, surely it could mean petrodollars for Allen?
These go to eleven.

This board is so far up its own harris sometimes , just relax and enjoy the playoffs , i think too amny of you have too much spare time !!
