That wouldn't surprise me at all, actually and if correct, it's even more sinister. My brother in law, who is a Wednesday fan, has been warning me about this happening, ever since DA took the reins. Needless to say, I've always poured scorn on his comments up to now.

Edit: Thinking about what you said there Moondog, it would explain an awful lot with regard to PC maybe wanting out and I have to say, I wouldn't blame the guy. After all, how could any manager work with his hands tied like that !?

I agree, more to this than cook leaving. It seems they no longer share the same ambition. Cook going to derby I can understand, but to pompey. I can only assume, promotion or not ,Mr Allen is looking to get his money back, one way or another after realising the club is losing money left, right and centre.

IMO Allen has looked at how much more he would have to invest now we are closer to the promised land than he thought we would be and now wants out

He was okay talking the talk about wanting Championship football when it was a more distant dream than it is now but I think he now does not wants the reality to hit home

Cook of course will realise this and wants out because of the lack of ambition at this crucial time

2 seasons in there, and we would be debt free.

Good point, I am not convinced that people know as much about Cook's future as they like to make out.

all managers and players are doing it for a job, if they think they can get a better job elsewhere then they will go for it - as most of us would in our line of work

would have thought PC could do better than Pompey but there is no denying that it is an attractive job for any manager, big fanbase, big budget for league 2 and the potential to move through the leagues should off field problems be finally sorted

people will always look after themselves and their careers first and so they should - it is a weird position for us to be in for other clubs to actively want to take our manager from us

we should all simply be happy to have had our best season in over 30 years, still have the chance of promotion, to have watched some fantastic football and very good players and whatever happens in the summer happens - if PC goes then hopefully someone takes over who can carry on the good work

enjoy the play offs and leave the moaning until there is something to moan about

There are fans at their end who say they havent yet found the money to pay off management they have sacked. Some of the rumours going around conflict so wildly it's best to just wait and see.
