I think the crucial factor is whether the young un's are good enough for the bench. One Drew equals 3 young un's.

So, having some fun with total guesswork and assuming everyone out of contract except Jimmy is released ....

3 players Morsy, Darikwa, Clucas at £4k a week = £624,000.
2 players Evo, Robbo at £3k a week = £312,000.
2 players Hird, Ryan at £2.5k a week = £260,000.
1 player Tommy at £2k a week = £104,000.
2 players Jones, Jayo at £1.7k a week = £177,000
5 players Banks, Gardner, Raglan, Harrison, Gboly at £1.2k a week = £312,000
2 players Chapman, Dezzy at £0.8k a week = £83,000.

First team squad budget = £1.872m including new contracts for Morsy, Darikwa, Clucas, Ryan.

Would think Darikwa and Clucas would be equivalent to Hird and Jimmy. That might save a bit....

Have a gut feeling Morsy will be off this summer if we stay in L1 and the club want to make any serious money from him.
At this stage in his career you'd imagine he'd be looking at championship football.
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

Common sense Phil, I read Morsy as saying he will let his contract run down - we therefore have to sell him THIS SUMMER BREAK to maximise our price.
God I hate this league.

They won't have to pay Robbo any more - he's at an age where a 2 year contract extension next year will do suit him fine. Just like Jack.

He might want a 3 yr contract at Pompey!!

And CFC gets our highest paid player off the books.

Just playing devils advocate so to speak
A new hope.

I could see that happening tbf. IF the brown stuff is going to hit the fan then it may as well happen close together from the boards point of view.

I can't see Roberts wanting to go to Pompey ... It's too far from Liverpool which I think was part of the issue at Swindon.

Just looking at the situation dispassionately, what a difference it would make if Raglan and Chapman are good enough to replace Hird and Lee, cometh the time.
