Its not about Pompey. They are just a vehicle to progress events at CFC. A tool to apply pressure. At worst a back up.
Its a game of poker. A game of bluff.
The club want to see a certain level of expenditure and a certain level of conduct off the field. Cook has other ideas about what he wants.
IMO everything now rests on the play offs. Go up, and we will have a bit of money, and an incentive to tempt those who may want away. Fail to go up, and there will be some big changes at CFC. Internal politicics may have even progressed things to the point where we start the season with a new manager, regardless of what division we are in, and what any budget might be.
To quote the man himself - this is going to be a big summer at CFC.

That way with all of our Wednesday connections, then they would pull put all of the stops to keep Cookie at his rightful home with the Spireites.

YES IT IS
They are the immediate threat, they want him and there has been no rebuttals from PC so any gossip like this could be good news
We all know he'll be gone sooner or later but first there has to be a vacancy, second that club has to be interested in PC, third that club has to suit him. That could be next month or it could be next year or never
I actually thought PC's body language was one up on last week. You never know PC and the owners may have reached an accomadation

They don't seem very excited at the prospect of cookie as manager.....but then again i seem to remember a similar response on here to his appointment. ....

Would be a frosty reception for him after giving us a bit of a slating earlier in the season too I'd have thought.
As we've been in the play offs for over a week it looks to me like he's your man, seeing Southend only slipped into the play offs on Saturday

Hopefully if it's to improve his prospects of succeeding further here, he and CFC have currently got the ideal excuse (and very good reason) but notably the article quotes 14th May timed to suit Southend's fate being decided

Cook should stay well clear of them as obviously they know nothing whatsoever about football
