nah mate if our staff were acting like a bunch of cockwombles then it's absolutely fair to reveal that especially if you've seen it first hand

If our staff members are, to use your delightful parlance, cockwombles then why would the CEO be advertising their availability to other clubs. You don't think that.... ooooh hang on.

Dunno, mate. What d'y'think it means?

Tell you what I think, though: we'll have a new manager by the start of next season.

I also think the 'spin' from both sides has already started.

Another thing I think is that Pompey's interest didn't simply appear out the blue and someone, somewhere, led them to believe the time was right to make their move.

Then I think quite a few on here are in some sort of naïve denial.

Most of all I think there's a great deal that could be said but the posts would be deleted pretty much straight away.

Just what I think, like...

I think you are right and the someone somewhere gave them that belief before the Alan Biggs TV show, when PC's name was put into the 'Shop Window' How better to cover something that was already in the pipeline, (something you knew would both infuriate and alienate supporters ( a la Doyle fiasco) when it hit the public fan)- than to casually mention your amazement that PC had not been head-hunted- after you've already got some arrangement for someone to make an official approach at an arranged time in the near future !. Then put on an act of innocence saying " Who 'd have thought someone would want PC- we're as shocked as the fans" ! Yeah -right. From the minute Phil T's post hit this Board - you could scent" something wicked this way comes..." and call me a cynic but my gut -feeling is that this has all been complicitly orchestrated from the very beginning,

OK I'll rise to this because I get annoyed at annoying idiots making sweeping generalisations about things they didn't see.

I witnessed said incident, wasn't directly involved but witnessed it.

If your saying that one respectful question, football related, warrants a manager and his entourage wanting to have a fist fight in a pub with a 59 nearly 60 year old man then you are grossly mistaken my friend. That it warrants a goalkeeping coach bouncing up and down in a doorway shouting "come on then" whilst said 59 year old was walking away, then your grossly mistaken.

Perhaps you see it as respectable to urinate in lifts?

Wasn't there so cannot comment, and I haven't commented on the specific incident, my posts were more generalisations based on things I have witnessed

Out of interest, what was the question?

By all accounts ( I was about 3 yards away) it was along the lines of a couple of minutes laughing etc telling PC that we had started well and that we were all chuffed with the way it was going (this was in December),to which he said thanks etc, then the question was "when we are defending a corner why don't we leave anybody up" and it kicked off.

Now I rate PC I think he's done a great job, love his football etc, so Ive no axe to grind here, but the question was asked respectfully and I can only think that it was the drink. Since then said mate has seen PC in Morrisons and exchanged pleasantries.

Like I said only reason I've raised it was because we were on the topic of drink, it might be "healthier" for PC not to drink in town as if he rubs up the wrong crowd it may turn nasty as certainly Nixon looked right up for it. Lynch was there but sober and acting as a peacekeeper.

while back then, thought you were talking about this weekend!

Again, can't really comment, but sounds like the question was taken the wrong way as things can be after a few beers

Sometimes reading this board is like 'everything you know is wrong'. A footballing Twilight Zone
Maybe I'm naive but these stories are a total surprise to me

No WB it was just the potential inference that anyone who talks to him and makes him annoyed (so that he and his entourage want to punch them) is someone spouting know all tactics to him, when in fact it was a reasonable question asked respectfully. So I reference back to the drink.

Absolutely sir, If I may refer back to my original comment in this thread suggesting that some people are decent folk just bad drunks.

December 2013 to be precise and being there too I'd say that was fair comment, leading to misunderstandings all round

As conspiracy theories go, that's gone straight through ridiculous and come out the other side.
For one thing, why would anybody want a cover-up? If PC gets a better offer and goes it's no more than we've been expecting for months and no blame attached to anybody at CFC.
And for another, why would CT want Cookie to leave? I'm sure he's enjoying the current success just as much as we are - it's a lot pleasanter to work for a successful organisation than one that's struggling. As for actually orchestrating it and telling porkies on some tin-pot TV show - why? What's he got to gain?
I should ask yourself a few sensible questions before you buy into the rumours flying about. They're quite daft enough without anybody fanning the flames.

I think we can all agree that Paul Cook is in a very strong position here.

However, what I don't understand, despite the stories & other things you hear throughout a manager's reign, is why the muck spreading only starts when it's time for a manager to move on? How can a person go from being a great manager, etc, etc, to some s'head overnight just because he wants to better himself?

It's telling that a number of posts on here have not been pulled today.
