Do you really think Cooky and his backroom staff want to be bombarded with questions from armchair johnny come lately fans all the time when they are out trying to enjoy a quiet pint?

Ive seen two sides to Cooky when hes out and about - the jocular, chatty version and the 'cant be bothered with this' version - I don't blame him for the second option now and again TBF.

Bombarded with questions hardly, we would have been there now if it was flattery.

A quiet drink whilst holding court in a town centre pub on a Saturday night oh I apologise back to the armchair then.

Mad Dog is the perfect fit for Pompey

He's their fans choice
They are a fans owned club so they listen to their fan base
He is experienced in the lower division and they claim that's what they want
He rarely lasts a year at a club
Portsmouth rarely keep a manager for more than a year
They wont have to raid the piggy bank for compo

All said and done he is their obvious choice

He's also Bobs Board choice.
God I hate this league.

exactly

also seen the two sides, the latter usually when some know it all super tactician will start with 'don't you think we should have done this' Cook will reply with why he didn't and the fan will continue with the 'but don't you think if we had have done this' etc etc etc

that must get annoying!

I'm not defending it, but if he turned left out of the Holymoorside junction instead of right, there's less chance he'd bump into Chesterfield fans, let alone a pub full!

If it gets annoying he needs to take himself out of the arena, he can't have it both ways.

Just looking at other odds on other clubs and their next managers and John Sheridan is 66/1 for the Newcastle job :-D

Edit: and Tommy Wright same odds for the rangers job. Nice double there for anyone!

perhaps the number of annoying idiots is far lower than the number of respectful fans who just say hello, shake hands and in the main leave him be

doesn't stop the odd idiot being annoying though does it?

After how many pints does one side become the other?

amount makes no difference from what I have seen, all down to fans attitude and line of questioning, stupid questions and continued asking of same question despite answers given (such as the 'yes I see what you are saying but don't you think we should have done this') is what illicit the 'can't be bothered with this' response!

When an Admin Clerk or road sweeper walks up to a proffessional football manager and tells him where he's going wrong he's gotta expect a bit of a frosty reception. If anything if Mr Cook tells them why he decided to go a certain way tactically he is doing nothing but showing absolute respect for them, if they can't show it back then they deserve a slap and not just a frosty reception.
I wouldn't like it if some joe blogs who does DIY tried to tell me where I was going wrong.
It's not all about boundaries but it's all about respect. Showing respect, respects boundaries.

He's gone out to 11/8 now already. Dropping fast. :)

100% correct, yet unfortunately a few folk do not adhere to this standard

Unless you know what you're talking about (properly) and can prove it through what you say I don't know why you'd get into any sort of debate about what he might have done differently.

The fact he's prepared to even have those conversations is a credit to him as I doubt many of the 92 get into it with fans ever.

As an aside Chris S, does your footer mean what I think it means?

Dunno, mate. What d'y'think it means?

Tell you what I think, though: we'll have a new manager by the start of next season.

I also think the 'spin' from both sides has already started.

Another thing I think is that Pompey's interest didn't simply appear out the blue and someone, somewhere, led them to believe the time was right to make their move.

Then I think quite a few on here are in some sort of naïve denial.

Most of all I think there's a great deal that could be said but the posts would be deleted pretty much straight away.

Just what I think, like...

OK I'll rise to this because I get annoyed at annoying idiots making sweeping generalisations about things they didn't see.

I witnessed said incident, wasn't directly involved but witnessed it.

If your saying that one respectful question, football related, warrants a manager and his entourage wanting to have a fist fight in a pub with a 59 nearly 60 year old man then you are grossly mistaken my friend. That it warrants a goalkeeping coach bouncing up and down in a doorway shouting "come on then" whilst said 59 year old was walking away, then your grossly mistaken.

I witnessed it mate that's all, to call the bloke in question an idiot is wrong so I have to stand up for him.
