Leam Richardson- Real First Choice Replacement?

Names get linked on the basis of them doing 'shoe string' jobs at other clubs, e.g. Keith Hill. Or just being a good manager will always get you a mention.
But step forward Leam Richardson.
I think this - when it happens- will be his big opportunity. He is on the same song sheet as Cookie regarding football on and off the pitch; from evidence of Cook's time hear and at Accrington, what better managerial education could he have hoped for?
When the inevitable happens, we all want more of the same football we have been blessed with over the last couple of seasons and who better to carry that good work on?
I doubt that a lower leauge club and I dare some bigger fish wouldn't want to splash the compo require to take Cook and a full team of back room staff, and I can't see DA wanting to start from scratch after the strides we have made as a club.
Cook going,if he wants to go, fair enough-the man has been nothing short of superb and if that's him done, so be it.
We take the compo as Cookie is contracted to us, promote Leam Richardson at no real financial headache and push on with the same style but with Leam's ideas implemented on the team.

Dream land Dan he will follow his mentor.

If he's of the same mindset as Mr Cook then I would imagine that he'd not want to stay either.

I would imagine Cook would take his team with him.

He'd be paid more here as an assistant than he got at Accrington as manager.

We will have no shortage of interested parties should the Proact hot seat become available.

If he his allowed to
They are scraping the money together to trigger the release clause according to their own press. They might bulk at such a massive team rolling up on their doorstep. One can hope anyway
As for Richardson, following on from Cook could be a poisened chalice especially if out budget is to be cut

I don't agree.
It's a fanatastic opportunity for someone to make a name for themselves along with the customary salary increase. Richardson would struggle at this moment in time to get a managerial role better than one with us (should it become available).
Number 2 at Pompey could be a poisoned chalice.

I don't think he made the move to avoid responsibility. More likely he got paid more with more security.

Can I bring up relocation for anyone moving, don't know if he is a married guy with family or not but I would think that 2nd in command anywhere is less than a managerial post. Then there is the consideration to stay with PC for what lies ahead as I think will get a crack at a good championship side.

Not if he thought he could make his mark here if Cooky leaves. He obviously thought Accy had no potential when he left the No 1 job to be
assistant here but we are a different kettle of fish to the situation there.
We shall see if /when Cooky leaves but it would certainly suite DA thinking of the less spending to pay for a new manager the better

Flitcroft on leaving Barnsley and taking the Bury job shows you can be successful and there again not to much upheaval domestically.

Not sure No2 at pompey would be bad, if PC was his No1 - following in the footsteps of cook, and the obvious comparisons and expectations IMO would be much harder.

Given the reasons for PC’s ‘unrest’, would expectations here be so high? Sure there will be comparisons but there would be comparisons to anyone who took over. There are no guarantees of success at Pompey and location wise it may no appeal to members of the backroom team.
If Richardson has any ambition of being a football manger he wouldn’t get a better opportunity than here. If he wasn’t up for the challenge he wouldn’t deserve the job.

Thinking of a mentor type role, maybe someone who managed him as a player ?
