Good result on our Sunday debut yesterday. Bowled Woodsetts out for 48 and knocked it off in 12 overs.

Think they've probably put us in a division or 2 lower than we should be...

One more Bullimore than i was told about...was told two of them had signed for a club Barnsley way but one of those played. Looking down the rest i reckon about 4 of them played first team last season but not sure what else they have to come in the next few games.

Only what i heard when i bumped into a dirty slogger ;) at the Dam yesterday afternoon but apparently Pembo is on a contract to get paid at Matlock and told them that if they folded the first team he still wanted to be paid in full for the remaining seasons he was signed for. I suspect paying him to play in 7 or 8 North wasnt part of the plan so they kept the first team in the higher division and folded their seconds.

Yeah, I was told the same about him going there. These stories must do the rounds!

Astonishing really if he has a genuine contract like that.

That's a great plan! It's fine arena, and very relaxed about bringing your own booze and smoking.

plan ruined, seleceted for first XI on Saturday

Thankfully it is a home game as there are some ridiculous journeys in Div 3

That said if staveley are rolling out most of their first team from last season 3 or 4 divisions lower its taking the mick a little.

Isn't the rule that you must provide a list of 7 regular 1st XI players from the previous season that have left the club or are not going to play? If you can do this then you can drop your 1st XI. They brought that in so teams didn't lose a few players and decide to drop the 1st team and have a team lower down that was too strong. If any of those 7 players don't register with anyone else they are still not allowed to play for Staveley this season.

Matlock have lost 3 or 4 players hence why they dropped the 2nd XI. As much as it makes a good story about Pembo, I would imagine it's highly unlikely that Matlock would decide the future of the club because of one player.

Not sure of the rules around dropping teams but i would suspect that a league as organised as the DCCL would have something in place to stop it happening blatantly and what you mention seems very feasible. It may be an issue if they all come back next season but nothing the league can really do about that.

That probably makes more sense and to be honest i'll leave it with them as to how they go about things. If Saturday is anything to go by they could be in for a long season....been there done that! ;)

Henshaw is still there and still playing for free! Haha.

No paid players at Grassmoor. And Henshaw has never been paid to play by the club.

Also no truth i the Pembo rumour. He had a year with us in 1998 cant see him returning.

He told us when he left Sheepbridge you were paying him for some reason.

There's little he won't do for money as video evidence supports ;-)

That is the problem with a lot of our players, they like give it out but aren't very good at receiving it

Excellent day for England. I still think a decent club side would give this West Indies side a good game though so I ain't getting giddy about it.

Trott shouldn't be opening the batting. Ludicrous selection.

We have to have our share of South Africans in the team

I also think this much vaunted lower middle order of Stokes, Buttler and Jordan is totally overrated. Sometimes it just looks like a very long tail. Australia will have fun and games with them. If they were that strong why not have a proper spinner in the team rather than Moeen
