To anyone who has watched the footage of the incident it should be pretty clear that Evans spat at Cisse. I don't believe Cisse would have spat if Evans hadn't done so first.

We know Evans has been given a six match ban, but the FA have just issued their findings, which seem to mirror the comments here:
Manchester United defender Jonny Evans's actions in spitting at Paurine Cisse were "simply disgusting", said the Football Association panel which found him guilty.
Evans, 27, denied spitting at the Newcastle striker, but was handed a six-match ban by the FA.
"The ordinary man in the street will find his action to be simply disgusting," said the three-man panel.
"It should not be allowed in any walk of life, let alone any football field."
