Well done, if that's the right phrase, to Cisse for admitting his part in the spiting incident in last nights Newcastle v Man Utd game. Of course I agree it was pretty much a "done deal" and he was just accepting his fate..now to Evans, come on we all know what he meant by his directed spit on the floor, and he knows too, but what a weasel for claiming total innocence in the matter!

Paul Scholes comes to the defence of an old team mate - "I don't believe Evans was spitting at Cisse. It was reflex. But what Cisse did next was horrible." A long article by him in today's 'i' newspaper.

A few more quotes:-

"I don't think Jonny ever intended to spit at Cisse."

"Footballers, athletes in all sorts of sports, have a tendency to spit in the periods of respite after action You can do it without even thinking."

"Not one aimed at Cisse."

Talk about biased !

Scholes is an example of someone who should've just kept his gob shut post-playing football, 90% of the stuff he comes out with is complete bollocks. He was a fantastic footballer but he actually seems quite thick.

Savage is definitely in that camp, too. Such a negative whinging (I see the irony here) tactically-inept tail end. All he talks is "passion, determination, gu on stick one on him, let him know you're there" all whilst shouting. I think he's my most hated commentator ever.

if you accept he spat on the floor then he has no case to answer whatever he meant by it.

I think he hit cisses leg..but it's about the intent and gesture..as vile as it is Cisses did it and held his hands up, Evans is trying the sly underhand way out..

so he didn't spit on the floor?
intent is a minefield. cisse clearly did it & has no way out, evans, however reprehensible, could escape punishment as no one but him knows if he intended to hit cisse or not.

 Agree. It was obvious what was going through Evans mind and the fact that the spit was heading in the general direction of Cisse was just "coincedental" Cisse deserves his punishment and since Evans is in denial he deserves the same IMO.

I think Evans should get more for trying to lie about it.

At least Cisse came clean...

That just encourages potential footballers to lie. Absolute joke of a decision which just makes the authorities an disgrace.

I agree. Should have been given longer for trying to squirm out of it.

Both disgusting but at least Cisse has been man enough to admit it and apologised to all concerned.

To anyone who has watched the footage of the incident it should be pretty clear that Evans spat at Cisse. I don't believe Cisse would have spat if Evans hadn't done so first.

Exactly. I believe that is what the authorities will use to try to justify this cock up aswell.

Agree totally. Scholes is one of my favourite (non CFC) players, but the lad has not got much upstairs. I've concluded that during his career, rather than being quiet and unassuming, Fergie banned him from speaking to the press too much for fear of him saying something stupid.
