Had our first winter net yesterday up at Netherthorpe School. Decent set up.

Got some right aches this morning though!

Had my first net on Sunday and survived...appears we're pretty much as we were currently other than the young lads having another years experience under their belts.

Whilst i sympathise with losing 4 bowlers...its nothing compared to what a few of us ended up going through with Clay Cross the winter after finishing 4th in DCCL Div 1!! 8 first team players that amounted to about 3000 runs and 100+ wickets from the season before upped and left in the space of a few months!

We have gone from 2 Saturdays teams to 1 Saturday and 1 Sunday but the harsh reality is not many that played in the 2's are good enough to play in our 1's..

We have managed to keep the majority of our runs, mainly because they all come from one lad, and despite Chesterfield tapping him up he has decided to stay.

However losing 4/6 of our main bowlers with no real replacements is slightly worrying.

Looks a bit chilly in Christchurch for the opening world cup game...bit like an early season game here! Dilshan wearing a wooly hat under his cap in the field whilst Malinga appears to have used his t20 earning to build up a built in layer around his midriff!!

England getting tonked again then. Set 343 to win. We've no chance of getting that. Aus to win by 100+ here.

There are no words to describe the ineptitude of that performance. We've conceded 300+ yet again and then ripped apart by a bog standard medium pacer in Marsh. The gulf in class is concerning given this Australia side is far from the best it's been yet we can't get anywhere near them. Scotland and Afghanistan must be looking at us thinking if they stick us under a bit of pressure there's every chance they can give us a good game.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything!

The issues were conceding what we did...once we had then you either get close, win or fall in a heap. Missed chances to get rid of them for a hundred less!

I actually called an Ireland win...windies are dire and the infighting is killing them.

Not sure Scotland are going to be copying irelands exploits! That said NZ are a damn sight more impressive than the windies.

Shame that with the current plans they probably wont be at the next world cup which is stupid! Interesting showings by Scotland and Afghanistan as well....did ok in half a game but completely out classed in the other and whilst one was by a potential winner in NZ the other was by Bangladesh who are pretty poor the majority of the time. In fact you could potentially argue that Ireland have done more in World Cups that Bangladesh ever have.

I cant seem to raise any sort of enthusiasm for the CWC this year, not sure if its the fact that we are gonna get a pasting or the fact they're playing at stupid times at night...

However, things looking good for the YDCL season. Heard from our resident Indian, that he has another guy lined up who played in the same academy as our previous overseas who won shot at the pros!

The timings dont help and possibly a reason that Australia will struggle to get a football world cup....that and the fact they wont pay FIFA to vote for them!

I've watched the first hour or two of some of the NZ based games that start about 10pm here and odd bits waking up in a morning of games from Australia but will struggle to watch a full game all the way through.

England's next game starts at 12:30 Thursday night/Friday morning doesn't it?

I could probably force myself to stay up late to watch some, or maybe get up early to watch the end. But I'm not sure I really want to...
