Our best chance in 35 years to prove to the people of Chesterfield that this club is serious, and what do they do.... Sell their prize asset for peanuts.
So all these young fans we have managed to get wearing town shirts with pride and who believed in CFC, we risk losing them again as once more It looks like we are slipping into football's quiet backwaters, reverting to type, as a small town team with no ambition.
Are we really about to embark on another period of the 'wilderness years', well it seems so to me.
Forget packing the Proact Dave, people needed something to trust and believe in but shortermism has once more, robbed us of that belief. It's going to be a long end to the season and I just hope we can hold on.

We'll be lower still when PC starts looking for an escape route

It certainly is..My fear is one a return to the dark days. The away support tonight looked pitiful compared with recent outings...can';t blame folk for not turning up. every time at chesterfield, something like this happens...no season ticket next year.

Cook jumping ship wouldn't be a good career move, a chairman might get twitchy at employing someone with that trait. This dip in form will make PC stronger if he can stop the rot and get us pushing forward again. We're not sunk yet, every team has a bad spell, it's how we react that matters.

D.A will be looking for a crowd of 7000+ against Fleetwood to balance the books.

Maybe. There are only 92 league clubs, and not that many above us who offer both better prospects for PC and would look at PC as the new man.

When crowds start falling away as we consolidate year in year out that might change
While we are on the subject, I deleted the details of our bet, can you send me them again, I think you might have to pay out the full whack!

Add to that the reduced budget Cooky has had to work with this season and then the Board invite offers for our best match winner, because that's what CT did in my opinion, ie talking openly about offers received, trying to start a bidding war, that ultimately failed.. Then as a manager I would have to think long and hard, if this club has the same ambition as mine.

it seems to me that the sale of doyle was planned,so is cook not slightly to blame for the players that they decided to bring in,it has been stated that harrison has been on the radar for a while, well on what i have seen they must have been wearing jam jar bottom glasses when they scouted him, cook has also put faith in armand who from day one has been batting well out his league the guy is simply not good enough ,add into the mix that in reality if you play 4231 you dont really need big players you need mobile players,we have gone against everything that made us so good by signing the wrong type of player.

Get a grip, a season is 46 games, not 3, it was bound to be difficult bringing in new players mid-season
We should still finish mid-table and overall that is progress

doyle was on a chesterfield contract,we could have increased that contract over a short period if we wanted,we had already sold a player for 700k this season,we had given the club the crowds they projected we had been on a cup run,we were in a play off position ,the need to sell because we would not have been able to look doyle in the eye is rubbish,he was our player on a contract he signed and in the summer he would have been bought in a far more fluid market.
