Where's the best place to go for some beers? And how far from the station?

Think we'll be heading into town from the station for a couple of hours so so. None of the places will be more than 10-15mins walk from the station. Possibly will include the Salutation, Trip to Jerusalem, Fellows Morton and Clayton, BrewDog Nottingham etc etc.

The museum is in the castle (not really a castle but leave 'em with it). I've not been but it's probably free and will fill some time.

Galleries of Justice is meant to be alright.

My sight seeing will involve historical boozers!

Can highly recommend the Stratford Haven about 10mins up the road from the ground in west bridgeford...belting boozer. The bars down by the canal over from the station are ok and plenty in the city centre but but further to the ground from there.

Don't know that place. I'll make enquiries! West Bridgford could be another option actually.

QUICK EDIT - Think I might have been in before cricket once upon a time actually - name just didn't register!

Yates's is a total rip off. Bought 3 bottles of beer in spoons opposite for a fiver, went across the road the same 3 were nearly 14 quid

Park and ride on the tram at either Hucknall or Phoenix Park saves struggling to find somewhere to park in Notts although it is a fifteen minute walk from the last stop at Station Street.

Few belting boozers in West Bridgeford, its where we went the last time i did a day at Notts County. Stratford is very popular on days when there is international cricket at Trent Bridge and well worth a visit. There was another place called Test Match which is a bit further into West Bridgeford as well.

The Stratford Haven is something to do with the local Castle Rock brewery so has loads of their beers on. Food always looks decent as well should it be required. 14 real ale options according to the website here - http://www.castleroc...tratford-haven/

No one has mentioned the "Vat and Fiddle" which is right opposite the railway station. It is one of the original Castle Rock pubs where they make the beer on site. Not that big but still quality. 10/15 minutes from the ground.

If you've got an hour to spare a trip into one of the cave systems under the city is the best bet. Loads of them carved in the soft sandstone and in use for shops, etc. until relatively recently.
Shame the ones in the cliff behind the Trip to Jerusalem that lead up to the castle are closed, but it's always good to have a look in the Trip to make sure.
