I don't think I could name 1 of our defenders from that season. I'll have a stab at Steve Payne? Help anyone?

Rob Page. Came as a highly regarded central defender on a lot of money - and was absolutely dire. The injuries didn't help, but any half-decent defence behind that attack would have got us up.

Page always seemed more bothered about proving himself hard (usually by means of off-the-ball incidents, unsubtly) than doing any proper defending. Currie was arguably the bigger disappointment, though, given what a player he had been and the wedge he was supposedly on.
These go to eleven.

I know it's been said before, but Jamie Lowry's injury was an absolute crying shame for him and the club, wasn't it? He was a smashing player and i've no doubt he'd be in this team now if he'd have arrived on the scene for us now.

It was a crying shame what happened with Jamie, he was a cracking player and a nice lad to boot.

Currie tried hard. I think that's as much as you could say.

Hat trick away at Exeter on a Tuesday night is my one, and only fond memory of him!

The 6-1? The best away result I've seen. Currie only got the final goal, though he did play very well that night- Wardy played a blinder. Hope he's not so up for it on Saturday but he probably will be

Winter, Goodall, Lester two, Ward and Currie, with Exeter's reply coming from the late Adam Stansfield. Admittedly I looked up our scorers but my brain was telling me that there wasn't a hat-trick. Winter's belter was probably the high point of his Town career.

That and a decent goal against that non-league side in the Cup.

He scored a cracker against the Stags as well and I don't think they were non-league then.

I might be making this up but didn't Winter score two lay-off free kicks in a home game against Mansfield which we won 3-1? Possibly FA Cup?

One was an absolute goalkeeper howler..I texted a stags fan mate, yes I know a couple, on the away end with the single word.."oops".. Later on he said the simple messages hurt the most!

I didn't mind Jamie Winter.. Slightly on the large side but had a right ping of a foot on him! And two goals against the scabs will always help! Isn't he in the Scottish lower leagues these days?

We drew them in the cup the season after their relegation to the abyss, that is who I was referring to.

Rather poor replacement for Freddy Sears!

Andy Giddings @Gids1980
#sufc terminate the contract of striker Chris Porter. He'll now join Colchester United. #twitterblades
