not desperatly no , to be recognised for loyal support , we all love town , days when theres a game on im in severe pain but drag myself out of bed to get to wherever it may be ,after cancelling a major operation in november just to have it close season and after having titanium rods and screws in my back still made it to drive to wimbledon , try spending a day in a chair friend beleive me its no joke , try 31 yrs of it , now with severe nerve pain in my leg it kills but i just want to see the lads play, 86 miles every home game , car can almost drive itself up m1 , yes spend a day in a chair , and let me know how easy it is , then maybe ud understand how difficult it is

No one is saying that devotion to go to matches is bad & we all know your disability! However, putting things like this doesn't make you a fan of the year - I have known people in far worse positions as yours & don't preach about it. It doesn't do you any favours trying to get sympathy as you have stated above...we all appreciate what you go through...but that is your choice & if it is painful, then you are fool to make it worse.....no one gets points for how many matches they get to! No one is going to think any worse of you if you chill out at home one weekend & listen to Pete Farris on the radio...because that is gold in itself!
I would love to go to every single match, but I prioritise more important things in my life..such as being with my daughters or my holidays.
I have been a supporter for 30 years now & hardly missed a match for 10 years..however the birth of my children & personal problems take more importance - now my girls are at uni I have the freedom to go to any match, which i am fortunate to do so.

Unless you travel with True Blue,
I nominate Paul Goodwin of Bridge In Travel who does terrific work with the aid of his partner Kimberley to try and get as many people to away games as possible.

to be fair, if I was gonna nominate anyone it'd be Paul and Kim

I just dont like the idea of an award that says someone is a better fan than someone else

An award for services to football or fellow fans would be better

I travel with True Blue as it's more convenient for me and it's how my friends travel (for reasons there's no choice). I've been with the Bridge too and had a great time and have nothing against them, neither do I look on every opportunity to compliment one as an excuse to have a go at the other.

I absolutely think if anyone was going to be nominated next Paul would be a great choice.

Here here. He is very modest though about the service he provides - Especially with the MK replay situation...He deserves a medal for sorting all that out! Proper fan and a top bloke

What you do is admirable, particularly as you do it in severe pain but the bottom line is, you go to games, like a lot of other fans. The agony you go through is your choice which someone has already alluded to. The people who get nominated and win the award do so because they don't just go to games, they raise money, they help out at the club as an unpaid volunteers etc.

They promote the club and generally, what they do is mostly unseen by others because they don't do it for recognition or awards, they do it because they want to.

I'm trying not to be disrespectful towards you as I believe what you do must be difficult but if you want half a chance of winning the award then you need to get involved behind the scenes, get involved in kids coaching, try organising a fundraising event or selling raffle tickets but most of all you need to stop playing the disabled card as it gets you no where. We have other disabled fans who go to games who must also struggle, why should you get it above them?

People who have been involved in the club for many years will have long memories and won't forget certain things all too soon. I think you know what I'm on about.

I'd nominate Paul if I had too but I'm not a fan of the idea in general.

But what if you've got a season ticket/membership card?

Or you've been to Braintree/MK/Scunny?

Or accepted the offer of a lift to an away game from Warfey (surely that must qualify you :glare: )

Whats the criteria for Fan of the Month? I'm not having a pop at anyone but what have they done that's more special than someone else? I really don't know. Also why hasn't anyone won it two months running has their standards slipped? Who nominates? who picks the winner?
