Attack, midfield and defence. Getting one right isn't too hard, getting two right is a real achievement, but getting all three needs luck as well as genius.
Our defence was dire, behind a Championship strike force and a fairly average midfield.

He probably shouldn't have signed Austin and Page who were both past it.

07/08 typical team was something like:
Roche; Picken, Downes, Kovacs, Robertson; Lowry, Niven, Leven, Ward; Lester, Fletcher.

08/09:
Lee/Carson; Picken/ D Gray, Page, Austin, Goodall; Lowry, Niven, Kerry, Currie; Lester, Ward/Gritton (sub Boden 81')

We've come quite a way.

If we had Lester, Ward and Lowry pre his injury in this squad we'd be a strong squad for sure

I know it's been said before, but Jamie Lowry's injury was an absolute crying shame for him and the club, wasn't it? He was a smashing player and i've no doubt he'd be in this team now if he'd have arrived on the scene for us now.
The greatest miscarriage of justice since my case against the producers of the Never Ending Story

I don't think I could name 1 of our defenders from that season. I'll have a stab at Steve Payne? Help anyone?

Probably the most disappointing injury in the last twenty years. His career effectively ended when he was on the cusp on becoming a seriously good player.

What a manager we had at the time to get those teams as high as he did! :-D
Here we go again!

That little period of history was a crying shame for us. Lowry on the cusp of a decent money move to Derby (well decent money for us back then), Downes in the Australian youth international sides and growing into a real important asset for us, and Robertson starting to prove himself good at left back, all crocked long term within such a short space of time. For one team to incure such levels of bad luck with injuries is just not fair.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything!

I see that loyal one club man, Rommy Boco, has, at last, decided to try pastures new, and is off to India..

Didn't Steve Prindiville have a spell in India.

I remember an article in the Green Un when he went to DOncaster.
