Okay, so take this with a mountain of salt and I'd never claim to know much if anything about tactics, but I've been talking to a mate who has a Derby season ticket, and though he's enjoying their finest season in a while (though Ibe's recall has upset him) he reckons the Rams are very predictable tactically, and that other Championship sides should have figured out the following by now:

Any team playing with a high line will neutralise Martin's threat as he has no pace
A sitting midfielder will also neutralise Martin as he likes to drop off the centre-backs five yards or so to receive the ball
The left-back Forsyth will rarely pass down the line but very often pass long, low, inside to Martin's feet. Forsyth is very good in the air but easy enough to beat on the ground
Buxton is an effective defender nowadays but his distribution is poor and so it's actually worth letting him have the ball at the back and letting him make a bad pass

....and, in general, as Cook likes to do, "Press, press, press!"
These go to eleven.

Whenever I've seen them albeit only on sky Russell seems their main creator , if morsey can stop him we have a decent chance . Glad Ibes going back to Liverpool .

For me we have to go there, 4-5-1 with Doyle chasing everything and the other 9 sitting deep, try to deny them space and try to nick one on the break.

The teams who go there, open up and try to play football, seem to get turned over pretty easily.

I hate the thought of us taking 5700 fans and sitting back and not playing our natural game.

Let's go there in full voice, get behind the team from the off and go for the jugular and let them worry about us. If we lose we lose.

Derby are not going to play their best team as promotion is their aim, and they have a home game the following Tuesday, so they will play some of the squad players. They are good players, and fully expect Darren Bent to play, but they will not be used to playing as a team, which will give us a chance.
Our teams is as good as their team if they rest a few of the normal team so we should play our normal game.

Best form of defence is attack!
Cookie plays this way every game, thankfully.
Edit. Huddersfield game apart, hope he remembers that everytime he thinks of going defensive!
Still shudder now at the memory of Ryan on the wing lol.

We need to score first which obviously easier said than done. It'll be a carpet of a pitch with wide open spaces that we need to use. We are a pretty fit side but we won't be able to carry passengers and get any sort of result, meaning Jimmy Ryan will have to be starting and we'll need Doyle up top and not messing about out wide.

We will play the messiahs way & Derby will show us respect! No sitting back & defending...we have our style & it works. Play like we have done & how we played against Leeds in the cup last season & a blue and white win is on the cards!

Trust me, we will win this game!

I was thinking of the Leeds game too- we went there and played some cracking stuff (it worked against Boro in 97 too!) and were unlucky that an individual error plus a screamer gave Leeds the win.

I really hope we don't sit deep as that is playing to Derby's strengths. Martin can't run- he is too fat- but he can get on the end of crosses, pick up chances in the box, and dives for a living.
These go to eleven.

Cooky will not set up to play defensive, or counter he will set up with the best attacking format to Win the game.

He has already said that with the Support we will have he will go out to Win the game the best way we can.

The only contributing facor ill be the team they put out on the day. Will he rest Russell, Martin or any other First Team player, who knows but on the Day we can beat anyone.

Let's enjoy the day either way. Every game in the F A Cup is a Final for us and this Year alone we will have played 4 years worth of FA Cup games so lets just go for it.

The problem with that plan is that Russell tends to play wide so unlikely to be in Morsys area of the pitch.

Just go out and play the way we normally do keeping good possesion with a high tempo , if its good enough its good enough if its not its not, the scoreline will be decided on who takes their chances the best we have to produce championship standard finishing.
ITS NOT THE WINNING,ITS THE TAKING APART

On paper their high tempo passing game should outfox ours. But if they are only playing 5 or 6 first team regulars this will be negated somewhat, and I see a very even game.

And based on Ipswich's performance v Saints the other night I have come to the conclusion that some of the teams doing well in the Championship are bobbins!

How We Can Beat Derby... Simple - We just turn up!

If we do we have every chance of turning them over.
