By my reckoning there were at least 27 scouts at yesterday's game representing 19 clubs.

Some are easy to spot as they wear coats from their clubs, others are familiar football figures or ex-Spireites (including one European Cup winner last night.)

Colin Prophett was there and I added him to my Trust Chesterfield Player autograph collection.

Seriously...... How does anyone recognise a Scout or is it anyone with a note pad and a tie or do they still wear tracksuits or Fedora's or some other give away style of hat.

Ok I get the Swindon connection due to the next game scenario, but what about the other 15?

It's a sort of code of conduct (for transparency reasons)-a scout has to carry club ID and is supposed to wear an item of club clothing

My cousin was a scout at Crewe Alex and I met up with him a couple of times when we played at Saltergate and he would always wear the Crewe club jacket and he used to play for Chesterfield.

I was guessing as he's a former team mate of Dychie and from the same town (Kettering)

The fact that he had a a note pad with Swindon Town on it, with lists of coded signs next to each Chesterfield player gave it away. Also when I asked if he'd seen anything to worry him for Saturday he gave a wry smile and said "no", before leaving with his mate 15 mins before the end of normal time sort of gave it away.

Cant have seen our substitution and goals then

Just made me smile that's all mate, imagining a row of blokes in their own club colours, with their own coded note books trying to blend in, hiding what they've written.
Just touched my funny bone. Nowt personnel!
