If Morsy is sold then the club will not sell Ryan. He would be worth more as a player for half a season even if he did run his contract down than a token fee. Unless PC has players lined up ready to replace them.

Just my opinion of course.

I have every faith in our superb scouting network to provide a suitable replacement for either of the star players...thing is, we will have a kitty to pay for the right player.

It would be a miracle if we found players as good as Doyle, Ryan or Morsy again, and it just isn't going to happen. Face up to it - losing those three (or even two of them), will give a loud, clear message that the club is not interested in progressing to the next level.

You are maybe right about finding three gems like those but if we didn't sell our assets at a good price then it proves we cannot handle our finances or manage our debts. After all we are a business and need to be run accordingly.

How much did those three cost us?

Haven't we also got a couple of others coming through already in Tendayi & Raglan not to mention Banks and Gardner and how much did they cost?

Since Cooky's has been here he has cleared out the dead wood (some we thought were decent and wanted to keep but have gone on to do nothing) and introduced unknown names on a low budget and managed to play some of the finest football witnessed in years. Why couldn't he do the same again.

The club also needs to reduce it's debts and return to an operating profit before it can progress to any level.

It's going to be an interesting month
A new hope.

Exactly, just as we signed jamie ward with a bit of the money from the sale of Caleb folan

Some will view it in terms of the million pound loss we made last year and see this as looking to stabilise the club and making sure we actually have a club..

It all depends on the view taken by DA - long - term or short - term. If he wants to start recouping his outlay sooner then we will sell. If he takes a longer view then we could keep our best players and progress to a higher level. It's his money, so he has every right to decide. I think, though, that those who think Cookie can continually be expected to produce more players of that standard are living on a different planet.

A higher level generally means more debt, not less.

And went down that season despite having beat wolves, west ham and man city in the league cup. The bit of money was £100,000 out of half a million wasn't it ?

But, then again, there was a bloke in the gents in the East Stand saying that there's a "done deal" for Doyle with Cardiff for £2 million.

So, I suppose, it depends which done deal we accept - Chris's deep throats, or other source, Facebook, or the Gents.

Personally, I feel if a really good offer comes in for Doyle it would be unfair to deny the lad the opportunity to be made for life, if Ryan is not prepared to sign a new deal he should be sold for the highest acceptable bid for the club and Jimmy, if we receive a bid in excess of £1.5 million for Morsy then it will be difficult to deny him the chance to improve himself, and if we get a cheeky half-million offer for either Raglan or Darikwa we should tell them to **** off and double it.

Whatever, happens I would expect replacements to be signed for each player sold and I would like to think, if nothing happens/additionally we will sign a left-sided centre back and another striker before January is out - this would add a little more balance and depth to our squad.

I always wonder where these people get their information from. Apart from some spurious paper talk about Jimmy Ryan, I can't remember seeing anything linking our players to other teams.
I'm sure they are being watched, but then similar discussions must be going on all over the country regarding lower league players and big money moves.
For instance, Doyle was out at Gillingham and someone said to me, "He's on his way, they've accepted a deal and the club he's going to want him fit for January." I declared my cynicism and said, he's injured and if he plays against Pboro then your theory (rumour) can't be right. He played he scored so it looks like said person got it wrong.
My opinion... I can't see anyone leaving in January

Hope you're right mate , why break a team up that's quite capable of a playoff place .

If we keep losing money like we have and increasing the debt and interest payments the cards will all come tumbling down and there may not be a long term future. We already have rumours of DA having to put in more money, suppliers not being paid etc

On the other hand selling players won't solve the root cause of these losses. They appear to be endemic

On 7000 gates, concerts and off field income and a playing budget of only circa £1.4m, God knows where the money is going.

4000 paying punters at £15 over and above ST holders on Boxing Day, that's £60k to sort out the suppliers.

It is obvious, the wage bill last year is well over £3M and the player budget is around £1.6M

DA seems quite happy will a bloated corporate style organisation
