Is his importance overstated?
Do we really need him or should we be selling? Discuss ....

Deal already done, I'm hearing.
Also Ryan has turned down initial contract offer with folk at CFC believing he's got summat lined up elsewhere.

Where to?
Add that to the 'done deal' that Bristol City have apparently done for Doyle too - £950k apparently. It was on Facebook apparently so it must be gospel!

I don't agree. If they want to leave what do we do? We won't be selling because we want them to leave, we'll be doing so because it makes sense. I don't see either of them as disruptive characters BUT I don't see Cook wanting players in and around the group who want to be elsewhere.
Let's say we sell both and pull in a million quid. If Cook gets £400k to buy a couple of replacements we may not be stronger but we needn't be massively weakened if he recruits well. I'm sure he'll be looking at some of the best younger players in the division below whoever they may be.

It would be a shame if we couldn't keep our better players for more than 18 months though.
Would speak volumes for our ambition

£950k for Doyle would be criminal imho but this is Chesterfield FC who's track record in transfer dealings is not the best.1,2 million with add ons as a mimimum

Only if they go for peanuts which they wont. At the end of the day not many clubs at L1 Level would be in a position to turn down 1mill odd for players that have a year left on their contract and extremely unlikely to sign another. As long as Cooky gets part of any transfer fee to spend which Im sure he will then thats all that matters and i'd trust him to put it to good use on past experience.

I think it's quite clear that with the time it's taking for Ryan to put pen to paper I think it's quite obvious he's, shall we say, keeping his options open. Can't see how the club can be blamed for that!

Yes agree we should be looking at over a million for Doyle, but where do we keep getting the idea were naive with transfer dealings! We've done a lot of good buisness over the last year few years.
