He may have moved up a level, but he's not in the same class as Jack. As you can see from various highlights, defenders have learned to show him left on every occasion, 'cos he's weak on his left. Fair enough, the hapless defender still couldn't stop him on this occasion, but he should have. On the previous chance that Eoin blasted wide, Jack would have turned his man inside out and side footed the ball into the corner with his left. I think Eoin has only scored 1 with his left foot - a nice little dink.

Had Lester been prepared to move around to chase the money he may well have played in the top flight. he certainly spent a long time in the championship. Doyle has not played at that level yet, and IMO does not have the same level of close control and composure that Lester had.

As an "asset" Doyle will be worth more as a striker in his mid 20`s that lester was in his early/middle 30`s.

A new hope.

Totally different players. Doyle works his socks and always gives 100% off running off the ball and ready run behind the defence. His last two goals were quality. Jack used his experience and waited for the ball.
As for goals Jack didn't score as many as people think, good start when he joined but only ordinary at the end.
25 - 08 season
23 - 09
12 - 11
17 - 12
13 - 13
Jack was a great bloke and iconic for us and could never do no wrong..apart from ??
I think Doyle has come on massive and not had the plaudits he deserves this season . If he had been a Higdonesque signing for big money more people would be raving.
FASTER....FITTER....STRONGER

Unbelievable post.

Jack Lester was the best player I've ever seen play for town. If you remember he started a lot less games in 12 and 13 and still scored an average of 15 a season despite this.
