Jimmy ryan covered some right ground, proper classy player

Evatt improved after he balls'd up trying to let it go out

As goku mentioned, Dan Jones' concentration is appalling, but his forward play is excellent

It's easy. There's nowt up with Gardner. There's only 1 place available and O'Shea has got the shirt. You can't drop Clucas, who to me is making more progress than anybody, or Roberts.

yours faithfully
Hannibal Lector.

Maybe it's just me but, while I think he is playing well, I would like to see more cutting edge from him

Raglan was excellent but I thought Ryan had his best game in ages and was my MOM. Tendayi was, again, very good and from where I was got booked for a good tackle and winning the ball. Similarly, why was Ryan booked when their man wasn't even spoken to for a professional foul to stop Roberts getting into the penalty area in the first half?

Thought Armand did what was required - Barnsley were in the accendancy but when he came on he started to win headers against their centre backs and prevented the ball coming straight back again thus giving our defence breathing space. I think he is being unfairly criticised as he was sent on to do a job for the team and he did it.

Disappointments for me were Roberts wastefulness, O'Shea preferring to beat one man to many rather than getting a shot away, Jones not clearing the ball with power which resulted in their goal.

Nevertheless, a really good performance and another very good game.

Very, very harsh on Jones who was sliding in at the time. Yes he didn't make great contact but when you are in that position some of it is luck as to the contact you make. Best left back we have had in ages

Raglan was simply class yesterday

As were most of them, think we have found a gem in Raglan though, Barnsley are a very good side going forward and the combination of Evatt and Raglan keeping the forwards quiet and Jimmy Ryan having a stormer and negating their best player (Hourihan) kept them quiet enough most of the game

Just a shame Jones couldn't have tried to use his right foot to hoof the ball away and protect the clean sheet

Let's start again.
Raglan has been outstanding on the RHS. Evo played LHS.

If we're starting again, can we start at the beginning. My initial point was that, on Friday, when it was being suggested that Georg would be nailed on to replace Raglan, I stated that Raglan had a decent game at Crewe and as he is our player, should not be left out for a loanee. Yesterday he was fantastic, as was Evatt IMO, so I stand by George not getting back in. Raglan is ours and he's taking his chance, that should be end of story.

Not harsh I think. He tried to clear it with his left leg, which was totally the wrong one. Only he knows what on earth he was thinking of.

He panicked 'cos he didn't know if there was anybody coming in behind him. He could actually have controlled it.

Or put it into Row Z of the West Stand with his right leg.
Perhaps he just got cold with nothing much to do. They hardly attacked his side at all - seemed obsessed with chucking high balls at Darikwa.

Not sure where to put this but after a run of poor form Evatt bounced back with a bang on Saturday. Very commanding performance, he and Raglan were very impressive. Just thought I had to mention it because I'd criticised him a bit previously.

He had a brief stint of his usual arm flapping when he got outpaced blaming everybody else but on the whole he was very solid

Did very well in the air winning headers, which is probably his strong point

He had a good game. He did let the ball go under his foot after the Jones mishap for their goal, struggled to shift his bulk from his standing foot. Had one of his usual skied efforts from under their bar in the first half. On the whole though, he did well against a very mobile attack.

i don't know how many more headed chances he's gonna waste, it's mad how poor he is at directing them/timing his jumps correctly when attacking compared to how he does defensively

Based on Saturday he was far more comfortable judging the flight of the ball when its come half the length of the pitch than the cross he headed over. When he missed that chance i dont know if it was the way the cross moved or not but he seemed to not only end up to far under the ball so was stretching and could get over it he also ended up in front of the ball so the cross was behind him.

To be honest with defending headers from goal kicks etc all you are doing is trying to get a head onto it and send it roughly back where its come from so it is a fair bit easier.

Absolutely right though he ought to have put a few away at the other end by now

Evatt is awful at set pieces he should have buried that header he somehow managed to get under the ball so he could guide it into the underside of the scoreboard.

It's a lot easier agreed but that doesn't excuse his poor chances-to-conversion rate at the other end. If Hird had been on the end of them he'd have bagged a few by now, sadly he doesn't have the height or strength that Evatt has. Just need to merge them both and it's problem solved.

He seemed to do ok at Blackpool, could it be our delivery of the ball.
God I hate this league.
