Here's Ivan scoring it in the 44th minutes to make it 1-1. In the second picture Albert Phelen looks on as Roberts collects.

Look at the height Ivan reaches at the far post to head the ball down and into the net

I have kept the same photo somewhere in my records

First of all can we stop being so sensitive over a few ignorant comments.

I despise Franchise for everything they represent, however not only are most of their fans pretty fair about us on the thread in question, but as probably the best side we've faced this season they've every right to be confident.

Perhaps our indignation would be better aimed at the sheer sh*ttiness of our luck.

There were plenty of balls in the bag that offered the chance of tv coverage, odds in our favour, a novelty day out, or maybe even all three.

Or at the very least we could've been drawn at home.

Yet instead we get one of the two toughest ties going.

Typical, bl00dy typical.

But then hey; history suggests we'd only have embarrassed ourselves if we had received a seemingly comfortable game...

Here's the report and the programme.

You appear a little better at this attachment lark, than me (free time I suppose) maybe you could attach a letter in the Football League Review enclosed within the programme trying to praise MTFC support, when they have such illustrious neighbours times don't change. Ironically the team photo on the next page has three future town players (1 spoken about on here this week).
Derbyshire is Derbyshire
Yorkshire is Yorkshire

Never the twain shall meet.

My first third round match was at home in 1961 v the previous season's runners up, Blackburn. Famed for the three Ds in attack, Dobing, Douglas and Dougan. Both teams played in away kits, we in all white (that's my memory). We hit the woodwork about three times, including twice in one attack, drew 0-0 and lost the replay 3-0.

Researching this, it surprised me how well we did in the 60s, lost to Oxford in 1964, Peterborough in 1965 (that plonker Dougan again), Blackpool in 1968 and Portsmouth in 1969, all while we were in the bottom league.

There was one more appearance and defeat before the 40 year window, Stoke in 1972.

You've got me worried now. This was my first ever Town game and I went because I wanted see to Blackburn Rovers play in their famous kit. I remember being delighted at their wearing it when they ran out and have dined out on that story ever since.

Now you've got me thinking it was all a mirage and doubting what I thought I saw. Can anybody out their help please?

Happy to be corrected, and look forward to confirmation one way or another. I am right that we wore all white aren't I though?

I cant even recall seeing any photographs of the Blackburn match even a B/w one would give a clue on the colours

Job card created. Visit library and find back copy of Derbyshire Times for that week.

Just checked in the programmes.

No info in home one but the Blackburn one for the replay has Rovers down as wearing red shirts and CFC wearing white.

It seems that I may be in a minority of one, but this draw is absolutely perfect for me - I don't think I could have hand picked it any better. As a Bristol based Spireite, any Southern-ish games are obviously preferable, but only a few days before the draw was made my girlfriend suggested a trip to London that weekend, and arranged a theatre trip for the Saturday afternoon with a friend, leaving me to start entertaining thoughts of a 2nd round tie within an hour of the capital (MK is in fact only half an hour on the train from Euston..). Add to all that the fact that it's a ground I've not been to and I'm left thinking "if Carlsberg made cup draws..". My only worry now is that my master plan may be scuppered by a tv switch owing to the distinct lack of attractive ties amongst the rest of the draw..

I'm also of the opinion that it's a far more winnable game than some on here have made out. I think the big pitch will suit us, being slight underdogs and we should take good numbers. I fancy our chances of progressing far more than had we drawn the likes of Oldham, Bradford or Notts County at home.

By the way, when do they announce the selected games for television?

There's still the risk we could be moved to Sunday again, although I don't think they'll make those decisions until after the replays ....

72k is a blooody massive amount for Warrington, bet the cup run has made them not far off 250k now. Good on 'em.

More I think about it, more i fancy us at MK - just think they will have their eye on finally getting out of this league.

Surely MK v Town is a bigger game than Col U v Peterborough

not saying we should be on telly but that one seems an odd choice
