Wow!!!!!!!

Lets just remind ourselves of a few things.........

This is MK Dons not Chelsea, they are the last time I looked in the same League as us. They are a decent side but how some people have gone off on this thread anyone would think they are unbeatable and we are on a hiding.

Don't think anyone would be complaining if we were on for a nice trip to London but we aren't we are off to MK.

And of course they are beatable by any half decent 3rd tier team, but it isn't exactly a dream tie, not with our record.

Cheapest option is surely to get a car full.

Coach or car the only sensible option and take a packed lunch

Another sensible option would not to go. However this is better than going in a league, at least we get to keep some of the money we generate

So last appearance at home in third round on a Saturday, was in the late sixties! Sometimes think Town and the Fa Cup were not meant to be!

Earlier than that!

7th January,1961 at home to Blackburn Rovers.

To make things even worse Hartlepool United are the only league team we have managed to beat in the FA Cup since Wrexham in the quarter final in 1997.

Well according to Mr Bassons book it was Peterborough Utd on January 9th 1965 lost 0-3 in front of a crowd of 11772.

In round one we beat the mighty South Shields, round two York.

Heady days!!!

Just checked on Sky Is Blue CFC website and it clearly and quite rightly lists Ivan Hollett as the goalscorer. Att: 21,457.

Yes, in fact it does, if you go to the 'line ups' 1967-68 page. However, have a look at the team - All Chesterfield's cup matches - FA Cup appearances- different scorer there.

Excerpt:
Sat Jan 27 Blackpool (Round)3 A 1-1, 1-2, [scorer] Randall, 21,457 J Roberts AV Holmes G Sears A Phelan P Neale EM Hughes AP Moore DG Pugh IR Hollett K Kettleborough A Wilson G Clarke

You're correct.

I relied on Stuart's records on line for FAC results which incorrectly show it as an away fixture.

Memory is obviously failing me as I was at the game.

No one has said they won't back the team. It's a crap draw but so what? They probably think the same but at least are at home.

I don't think he was saying we weren't backing the team - more highlighting the defeatist attitude. We outplayed them at The Proact and were unlucky to lose to an admittedly great goal by them

He did. Their fans chant from Cross Street always stuck in my mind- very loud and in a strong Cambridgeshire accent - Paterbarra -ooh ooh. [repeat]. Don't think they ever again brought as many fans as for that game.

The defeat at Blackpool in 1968 was unlucky. And Wilson turned Jimmy Armfield inside out many times and Ivan Hollett scored a great

header at the far post but Pool scored a deflected goal late on to win 2-1

I wanted to go to the Blackburn replay in 1961 but my dad said I was too young !!

I realise now I was too young but probably only to stop him going in the pub with his work mates :windup

Here's Ivan scoring it in the 44th minutes to make it 1-1. In the second picture Albert Phelen looks on as Roberts collects.

I'm not being defeatist or saying we'll lose but it's still an absolutely s**t draw with regards to the fact we're playing a club in the same league.

Does that read wrong or have I misunderstood what it says but, I'm sure we have beaten a couple of teams like Harrow, Staleybridge since then and even drawn a couple... lol

Ivans goal was a brilliant header and Hughes had only got one boot on when Blacpool scored their 2nd goal
