I thought Gardner looked pants and out of his depth. Kept losing the ball, first touch was poor, tries fancy stuff that doesn't come off, e.t.c. My brother basically fancies him but I just can't see what he offers.

I would tend to agree with this. Its ok bombing towards the area at an exciting pace every time you get the ball, but if you dont do anything with is when you get there whats the point?

I think we can pass it around at the back too, though it doesnt hurt the opposition much

Not to the level they did. Even though we were constantly pressing them they passed it round us and I'm not sure they lost possession once.

I want to see Bocco return as he battles his way back to cover the fullback.

Don't disagree but has he been injured? he seemed to be having a fitness test with Shinner pre game last night

Look guys I wasn't at the game last night but I've seen the team go from a full of confidence, I want it, type of play,to a lacking in direction, don't give it to me type of play in less than 3 or4 weeks. We all seem to know who the targets are from other clubs so now cookie has to plan for the enevitable departures that will go for, I hope, big money. The club will have to identify our own targets and increase squad numbers to elevate the Evatt, hird, cooper replacement situations we have for the Yeovil game. We have limited quality and no depth in the squad in general! Cash in I say and bring in players to refresh what we have, with the budget we have it's the only way to develop and progress!
Morsy and Doyle are worth a lot and I'm a great fan of both but we have to bite the bullet and reboot our faltering fortunes.

Imo selling Doyle would be pointless. Cause then we have to fork out for a better quality replacement which would probably leave us a with little else to spend on other players so we'd have the same striker shortage problem. Unless we can extract a very good fee from someone which would cut off a chunk of debt. It's a challenge finding better players than what your selling when a lot of the transfer fee goes on debt reduction
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything!

Cookie seems to be one of the best in the buisness for this! He seems to have the knack of finding these gems.

You're kidding yourself if you think we'll sell Doyle for a lot of money.

He'll be off most people's radar by January.

Given the right service he's one of the best in the 18yrd box, hes a poacher, Alan Clarke style! This is a valuable trait to have. People underestimate him in these areas. His movement off the ball is exceptional. He's strong around the box and his initial quick five yard sprint gets him there if his teammates see him! As Roberts and Jones did at the beginning of the season.

Assombolonga went for 5m , people look at goals scored and desperate managers will pay for goals. Not saying he's worth anywhere near that but as long as the goals scored count is high the money will be high

Will he beat 20 for the season now?

Perhaps if we get a few more penalties.

If we create a few chances for him yes, he's hardly has a kick the last two games.

20 is the holy grail for any striker regardless how they come! And twenty before the window closes would make him more marketable.
