A very impressive team performance. Both our full backs were very fast and amazingly skilful. I was really impressed by the cohesion, work rate, and attitude of the whole team, but especially by the way they all got on with the game without moaning and whingeing either at each other or the officials. Judging by what I saw today, the Club is in very good hands, and our youngsters are being taught to play the game the right way.

Correct about both full backs. The right back was the first to impress me when the game started and then the other lad eclipsed him a bit with those tremendous runs and dribbles. Both very good though.

Ah, thanks. My definitions arn't quite right then, assuming MW is a full time pro. Does MW play both for the Youth team and the Development team then?. How did he do?.

Don't think he had a save to make - we were so much on top he could have sat in the cafe for most of the game! As others have said, our left back was a brilliant player; only drawback being lack of height, but he was unbelievably fast and skilful.

Is lack of height really a drawback for a full back?

Generally yes. It means they can be targeted from set pieces etc. Brindley got criticised for his lack of height whilst he was here and he wasnt even that small.

I don't think lack of height is necessarily a problem, but, especially at a higher level, clever opponents can take advantage by knocking long diagonal passes over the top, especially these days when full backs are also attacking wingers. Pace and energy can overcome the height drawback, and both those full backs do have those qualities in abundance.

Does 'should' mean he is going to be offered one, or in your view 'we should do it?' (genuine question, not a dig)

He was the master. The young un yesterday won his fair share of headers but it was his all round skill that was awesome.

He was clever enough to play as a winger - problem, if there is one, solved.
