Stationed at Wyke Regis just outside Weymouth in 1980s.

It was always full of Matelots and Squaddies.

Think you are thinking about the wrong Weymouth, the one an hour south of Manchester, near Stoke

Go on the Terras. Read a lot about them (Floodlit Dreams- great read) and Claridge's second book, and have watched them as I have relatives up the road in Purbeck.
Rhino Williams and Critchell played for Weymouth, and wasn't Wade Falana playing for Braintree when he attacked someone with a wooden board?
These go to eleven.

Braintree - nice little Town? I prefer Chesterfield or Weymouth

long way to go to watch non leaguers.
150 miles to Braintree and 25o miles to Weymouth.
Wouldn't Alfreton or Scumfield have been nice.

It only took us 3hrs on the bus coming home,we stopped at the Braintree shopping centre and walked into Town but not sure where the footy ground was.We joked that we might be drawn in the cup, what a bummer.

That was 1980

The naval bases have long gone but I dare say the squddies still find their way down from Salisbury Plain for a bit of R&R

The harbour area was lively and lovely in the 80s so I must've been lucky missing out on the military boys.it still is the main attraction for some great establishment

Last time I was there was in 2012 and it was rather "lively" with stag nights and hen do's. I would've thought it would be ideal for a football fan looking for a beer or two while families could enjoy the surrounding area

I would suggest that the rule of thumb is if you can cope with a saturday night out in Chesterfield, Weymouth is a doddle

Sadly we will probably be visiting Braintree

Braintree are strong favourites to win the replay.

So what do we know about them? Well Alan Devonshire is manager, which'll probably elicit a degree of interest in the media (in other words Colin Murray might spare a couple of minutes airtime on Talksport given the number of Essex white van men that seem to tune in). Other than that they're a lower mid-table Conference outfit averaging less than a thousand fans. Oh, and they share the nickname 'The Iron' with West Ham.

It's a classic no win scenario for Town: even comfortable progression will be met by 'so what?' style shrugs, whilst anything less will be a moral victory for the lower placed club. Meanwhile there's always the chance we'll once again embarrass ourselves in this competition.

Just for once - just for effing once! - can we please be one of those sides who enjoy a straightforward, competent, drama free result that raises no eyebrows whatsoever.

Weymouths a nice place cant recall it being full of chavs and I spent a week there in 2011. However it's a 500 mile round trip so I'm hoping for a Braintree win.

I think you'll find they share a nickname with Scunthorpe. Sorry to be pedantic, but I used to watch West Ham years ago when I briefly lived in Barking during the Hurst/Peters/Bobby Moore era, and I distinctly remember the cries of 'Come on you Irons !' Only one extra letter, but it makes all the difference.

I think we have a manager that won't underestimate the lower league's this year, seems a guy who'd approach every game the same so for the first time in many a year i'd be surprised if we didn't beat either..years past i've had a very different outlook mind.

Scablets have a good tie, home to Concord. Will there be less than 2000?

A new hope.

I would think once they get their nose in front, they should wing it.

Always think of Alan Devonshire being a skinny little long haired runt, although that may be my memory playing up.

He is now a rotund slap head, quite a contrast. He is probably the most interesting thing about them

As you say, lets hope it is featured towards the end of the highlights show
