The only Town player I recall who got a huge cheer for actually playing a ball down the line that stayed in.

Did we get in early enough in those days to see the pre-match kick about

We would have done had we not wasted so much time teaching you that when you throw a dart you have to stand behind the line.

Maybe so, I'm just glad I didn't have to pay tax on my winnings. Once again thanks

It was Bonnyman along with John Stirk whose sole purpose seemed to be in giving the pigeons on the stand roof a hard time

Stirk would have made a far better Rugby player kicking the ball into touch with great accuracy

cast your mind back Dave and think what missing out cost us finacially we over stretched and when that gamble didnt pay off including just after Cox i.e Barlow . Look where we fell and the cost of it Yes it was great yes it will be remembered but we cannot go there again. The club debts are much to high. It is rumoured that Higdon wanted 6K a week to play for us we cannot afford big wages anymore.

We walked up to the ground with sam Hird and we were making comparisons with the super Cox days the difference being Cook hasn't spent big money.

Brought in transfer deadline day 1980 , as Whitman rightly says changed the team for the Blackburn game which we lost

No transfer deadline day in 1980. It was open all year then. The transfer window has only been going for 10 years

No window. Definitely deadline day. Usually towards the end of March.

Per CFC history: Legend has it that, on transfer deadline day, 1980, Arthur Cox was presented with a choice by Ian Gaunt, his chairman: he could buy either Phil Bonnyman or John Stirk, since the money did not exist to get both players. Cox bought the pair.
