Self-appointed head of recruitment here. I've got a huge £0 transfer budget to play with!

Strangely I've been on the tap up as well...2015 season starts here although what division we'll be in appears to be a mystery!!

Who you after? We've one or two targets. Maybe someone coming from Cutthorpe....others are good young lads who probably need to test themselves at a better standard.

It was the same for us last summer - we had an idea getting third would see us being offered promotion and that's how it worked out. We acquitted ourselves pretty well but with the addition of 2/3 more I can see us going close next season.

Just a lad i know who i spotted jumping around between teams and thought i'd ask the question. Not sure anything will come of it but he knows the option is there should he want to. We've still got a young batting line up that is improving each season as they gain experience and this year a 15yr old lad who is a bowler came through and established himself in the 1st team which was good to see. Few other young lads in the seconds including a couple that have popped in and out of the firsts at times so hopefully they can push on as well. I suspect there will be a few lads being asked that the other young lads know as well.

We shall see what happens, apparently we've enquired whats happening in terms of the gap caused by Div 3 being short and where new teams are coming in but its a bit unclear whats happening. If we'd not dicked about in the final couple of games last season we could have had third instead of you so i made the point ahead of the final weekend to the skipper that we should finish as well as properly to ensure if anything was happening we'd be involved.

Apperknowle are joining aren't they? Lower than I'd expect but it's a general step up from the 'wet wicket cricket' in the YDCL.

Our 2s are coming in too. They bow out with a cup final on home territory on Saturday. Then other than our 3s which is really a junior side we won't have to play deedahs ever again!

Heard of Apperknowle and Clay Cross Works joining along with a couple of others but not sure who. Your seconds would be one then always the chance someone will add a 3rd or 4th team or some of the villages down south. Notice Apperknowle got relegated from Div 1 so not sure where they will place them.

I heard seven. Surprised at Clay Cross works. Their best two players play on a Sunday for us and are coming to us I think.

Just what i was told via Twitter by the guy who is chairman at Marehay who i know and replied to a query i tweeted to Rog over possible promotion for us. Despite playing for the other Clay Cross side i know next to nothing about the Works team....only ever played on the two grounds they've had in midweek cricket. Had a look at their site the other day and didnt recognise any of the names.

Its the way the DCCL always tends to do it...rather than having one team coming in they sort of have a window for applications and pop them all in at the same time under one reorganisation and its not a bad way to do it to be honest. There is in theory the option for YDCL and Derbyshire\Cheshire league winners to join as part of the pyramid structure to get to the Prem but i cant remember anyone ever taking up the option. Would be a fair bit of travelling for the Derbyshire\Cheshire sides and the YDCL lot never seem fussed.

If things stay as they are then 5N is looking like this for next season :-

Already in 5N :-
Ashover CC - 1st XI
Allestree CC - 1st XI
Belper Amateurs CC - 1st XI
Selston Town CC - 1st XI
Belper Meadows CC - 1st XI
Darley Abbey CC - 1st XI
Denby CC, Derbyshire - 3rd XI
Sandiacre Town CC - 3rd XI

Down from 4N :-
Clay Cross CC - 1st XI
Swanwick Hall CC - 1st XI

Up from 6N :-
Clowne Town CC - 2nd XI
Staveley Welfare CC - 2nd XI

However i'm fairly sure this will change on the back of a few things!

Think Barbs need more bowling to challenge in 4 which is a decent league, Ashover may get lucky as 2 of the 3 down from 3 are South Derbyshire sides, although league could also shift Breadsall back to 4N to plug a gap

There is also the issue that Div 3 was a team short this season after Burton dropped out so 2 have gone up from both 4N and 4S. With 3 down they are one short for Division 4 level to split between N&S anyway no matter what they do with Breadsall.

To be honest there is no such thing now....the line about clubs having to ask clubs permission to speak to their registered players was removed years ago when they realised they couldnt police it. I've seen tapping up galore on twitter these last couple of days!

Tongue was firmly in cheek. I've been at it myself. I was hoping for a rest from cricket, but it seems you have to strike quite early on these things.

Pleased we are in a position at the moment as a club where we don't have to ask everyone and anyone. We've got a bit of depth at the moment so we're looking for specific roles to be filled. If anyone knows a proven Div 1 batsman who might get me 500-750 runs then let me know . . . .

You're absolutely right. We have only bowled out sides three or four times all season. Even in getting promoted last season all bar a couple of our games were won chasing.

The guy who could come in would open the bowling and one of the other lads we are talking to would as well.

Is that illegal in actual law or Barlow law?

I thought it was you they were on about anyway ;-)

Aye, think its just accepted that folk will get spoke to and i think that if they get talked into leaving they probably would have anyway. I've only changed clubs once and i did that off my own back so all this club hopping that some folk do i cant get my head around. I also got fed when asking a few the other year and the first question i got back was "How much will you pay me?" when they were hardly set the league alight players.

Barlow law is the actual law. I thought of all people you'd have known this . . . .

If you need an opening bowler I'm definitely your man.

I've never had need to upset him personally. It did make me chuckle though the time I heard him refer to us (Sheepbridge at the time) through the dressing room door at Tibby as your 'natural enemy'.

far too many mediocre players expect money

also don't understand all the moving clubs, moved three times myself (last time to go back to where I started) - but 3 times in 24 years pails into significance when there are lads under 25 already on their 5th or 6th club!

don't have anything to do with recruitment, can't be bothered to go begging folk, we all play for enjoyment so you play where you want!

Me and my brother switched from Baslow juniors to Sheepbridge in 1995. I was fifteen, he was 13.

There are at least 7/8 of us from that time left at the 'new' club.
