To get bowled out how they did yesterday was absolutely shameful. Their heads have gone - if we cobbled together a side of local league cricketers and played them today I'd fancy our chances.

Dhoni aside none of them show any fight when up against it and the conditions dont suit them. Then to make things worse hide behind not giving interviews to some media outlets or when they do talking utter tripe. Apparently in one press conference yesterday Dhoni trotted out that we shouldnt be jealous of the IPL when it had no relevance to the question answered. Boycott was shredding them to pieces about the way they were batting yesterday and i suspect the likes of Fletcher will take the rap for it but the basics were that very few of the batsmen performed, in fact any of them since they won at Lords. Kohli is talked about as some superstar but only gets runs when its low and slow in India or similar conditions.

Interesting that India have brought Ravi Shastri in to be Team Manager (or whatever role they want to call it) above Fletcher, He was distraught during The Verdict, Mumbling Bob Willis and Butcher were having a right go and Charlie Coleville was sticking the knife in and twisting it as well, I bet he'll love to shove that back down their throats if India perform in the One Dayers. (Can't see it myself they looked shell-shocked!)

The thing is...it wouldnt be a surprise if they won the ODI and T20 series as it comes across as the only sort of cricket they really care about these days. Also if you notice none of the players have taken the blame just the non indian backroom staff such as Fletcher, Trevor Penney and the bowling coach. Early on in the test series Shastri was talking crap about how the IPL hasnt effected their test cricket and its good for their game when its blatantly whats hurting them. Only have to see how the likes of Jadeja play and a few of them only seem to be fit enough for limited overs rather than the hard work test cricket involves. Their youngsters are growing up only looking at the riches of the IPL and no appetite for longer forms of the game.

I'd price us higher than the bookies today but whatever our chances I'd love to see.us beat Notts today. Glad we're chasing - the only way I can see us winning is if we bowl out of our skin and keep them under 230ish.

We get a bit of help with Hales and Gurney unavailable but we still need to play very well and need some big performances from our better players...maybe North could finally pull his finger out! Always the fact Notts like to have a choke in games like this as well!

Batting second with a DL set shortened chase might have been handy as well.

Footitt poor others not that threatening on a batting pitch. The two chances Samit gave us to run Taylor out we needed to take.

I'd fancy Scotland to beat us at the world cup next year if we keep playing like this. Garbage throughout this one day series against India. I know India are a great one day team currently but their confidence must have been shot to start with.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything!

India dont give a toss about test matches at the moment, or at least thats the impression they give, so it wont have hindered their one day stuff at all. We also dont help ourselves by preparing tracks that suit them and negate our bowling options. That said we have played poorly in the main against the spin and now the media\pundits are laying in with all their knowledge when to be honest even in their day we were crap at limited overs stuff.

The likes of India, Pakistan etc basically live off the limited overs game so are always going to be way better than us as we dont focus on it as much. I think the team needs a few changes but not loads that some folk are thinking about.

Well thats another local cricket season done and dusted...number 22 for me. Only managed 11 games through various things and the weather but managed to sign off yesterday with 4 wickets to take me past 20 and keep up my run of getting into the league handbook averages. Also managed my third career hattrick as we picked up a 27 point win that confirmed a third place finish for us and now we wait to see if its enough for a back door promotion as they reorganise a few things.

Their skipper was probably rather annoyed by it all yesterday as various things led to me missing the first 15 overs of us in the field but the only rule in the DCCL is that i had to be there before 5 wickets or 23 overs have passed to be classed as a player rather than a sub so despite him not being overly keen on me anyway he couldnt stop me bowling. I started to bowl in the 24th over at which point they were 121-3 only for them to slump to 125-9 and 10th wicket partnership got them to 137 that we knocked off. Oops! :D

Fancy a go in 4N next season on the Dam? We need two or three to replace fill in players like me so we can go for promotion again!

Cheers but I'll be staying with Ashover. Enjoying it and good set of lads that hopefully I can help take up next season.
