There is the other way of looking at it.
To sign Higdon and perhaps 2 others whilst maintaining current squad would require attendances of XXXX. Considering projected attendances this figure cannot be reached, therefore said signings cannot be made. Board action is to inform supporters. Which seems like what has happened. Result supporters not happy.

Perhaps last season they were in a similar position but considered with Good Football, Better Players and another Promotion Push there would be sufficient increase to Buy Into a Forward Moving Club.

But why as it it taken till now!!!!

I think the point here is that it's OK to budget, but once it became apparent that the 7K figure was unachievable, the budget gets revisited and controls are put in place. From the outside looking in, we've continued to spend based on crowds of 7K, that's the problem

At such point the contracts are signed and the money is spent.

Take out all the people who have no interest in watching live football, all the toddlers and babies, all the elderly and infirm in care homes, all those who want to come but can't afford it. All the Saturday workers who would love to come but can't, all the blades, bowels, manure and scouse fans and that £250k dwindles rapidly.

Yes, but is that the reason why the Pull In figure is 2.8%

Maybe a little thought might be put into crowd pulling entertainers at future concerts.
I mean TOM JONES really ?.
20 years ago he would have pulled a crowd but nowadays he can barely pull his own.

A simple guess. Poor internal reporting and bosses who decided they could manage without someone who could tell them how it was, not how they wanted it to be.

e fans always get the blame! Its our fault they haven't sold enough season tickets, our fault that not enough people went to see Tom Jones, our fault that we don't buy that extra cup of coffee/pint of beer in the concourse. If we happen to be languishing near the foot of the table this season then all of the above will be the reason for that - so being garbage will be our fault too.
Would be nice if Mr Allen put his hand up and said - sorry lads - screwed up on the budget front and lied my tits off about getting some extra players in and being in the championship in 5 years - apart from that I've been spot on!

DA is the chairman therefore he should take responsability but as usual he hides behind scapegoats and lame excuses..Last time it was CW,Sheridan, people being on holiday at the wrong time etc etc.

The contracts are inflexible. However:

1) How many players have we signed throughout the season?

2) What have the overnight stays cost the Club?

3) How much has been spent at Casa / Ringwood?

4) How much did the Club Shop refurb cost?

5) How much did the end of season trip to Benidorm cost?

6) How much did the trip to Portugal cost, that Dunbavin (not our player) & the CEO went on?

7) Why was a revised contract offered to Leam Richardson when he had 12 months left on his existing deal?

And that's without touching the sides.

But it was not the Tom Jones concert which scuppered things. If we had done just this one then perhaps there would have been a few smiles around The Proact.

Surely budgets should be set on a pessimistic scenario, not out and out the best we were going to get?

A budget based on 6000 would have been sensible, allowing us to overspend.

How right you are. I wonder how many club's average attendance comes in below budgeted figure when they win their respective division. Where would we have been if we'd ended up mid-table?

I think TJ sold quite a lot of tickets.

It was the day for the younger acts that flopped.

True but we have to share this with Derby County, I know of Chesterfield people who go to Derby and not Town, the cricket club can legitimately claim the whole of Derbyshire

Club would have got slammed for not taking advantage of having the stage already set up and doing a second day. Which is what people were crying out for after Elton.

They did the right thing but it didn't work. Either poorly executed or misjudged the market.

They are essentially the same and so is the core support and so are the grounds

What is different are the two chairmen

If we knew we made a loss and we knew current contracts increased on promotion and we knew how much we made on concerts and we knew the budget was slightly reduced, why has Turner been negotiating with Higdon?
A new hope.

Tom Jones was 13.5 k.

Party at the Proact was about 4.5 k ,with probably round about 25% of those being heavily discounted.

But was far from capacity and they had to offload cheap tickets so it wasn't the rip roaring success hoped for

DA made it plain that TJ was his choice and he got it wrong
